Struggling with sleep

Hey all, really struggling with sleep atm. Rib/chest pain, middle of back pain, Heart rate spiking in wrong positions ie. Laying on side.

Got a wedge, got 100s of pillows, got an electric bed, mattress topper, medium firm mattress ... just cant get comfortable.

Anyone got some tips?

Return to gym - First step exercises

Hey Again all,

Looking for a return to gym outlook, my progressive plan is as follows:

  1. Treadmill (current)

  2. Elliptical trainer

  3. Really light dumbbells 1- 2kg

  4. Assault bike

  5. Concept 2 rowing machine

  6. Ski erg

  7. Heavier dumbells

I'd be happy to reach 7. Within a year, but unsure.

Any other gym goers have experience with returning?

Note: im only 1 day in with the backpod and physio

What's your sleep setup?

Hey All, really struggling with sleeping atm, deep pain in back, radiates to front, fun times.

I have a medium - firm sealy mattress, but seems to crush my chest a tad by the end of the night, tried 30deg wedge, works for a few hrs. Pillows everywhere!!! Under legs, under arms

Your input would be greatly appreciated 😀

TIA

The System Crash

Hey all, I was wondering if the majority of us had a similar build up to their definitive moment.

I personally was on overdrive for years, pushing myself in the gym, over 10 coffee's per day to mask the tiredness, family, kid, work + major work stressors, terrible sleep. Just keep going was my philosophy, stress didn't affect me .... obviously it did. Then I had my emergency department trip.

Wondering if others had this kind of build up before their PPPD showed its ugly face?

TIA

Physio session flare up?

Hey All, im 6months into this, decided enough is enough. I've got the backpod, peanut massage, tennis ball. Ive used the backpod a few times but I feel its too early as it really spikes my anxiety from flare ups (irritation to front left ribs).

Yesterday had my first physio session in a long while, trained in thoracic. Did some pretty deep massage stuff, which after all my research, seemed in the right spots.

Question is, for those who have been through this, is it normal to get these flare ups from physio and back pod? Do we just keep pursuing, as waiting for healing obviously did not happen.

TIA.

Exertion limit increase?

Hey All, ive asked before about exerting ones self for social events (parties etc..) which can wipe me out for days after, I was also wondering about basic tasks at home?

I was doing some gardening at home, decided I wanted to plant a small lemon tree, plan was to go super easy, no pressure, spend all day if I had to. Im glad I planted it, been raining heaps since, but boy it took it out of me, another couple of days rest.

Is this normal for us all and when do we start getting some of that good ol fashioned resilience back?

TIA.

SSRI the only solution to this?

Hey team, ive been reading as much as my head can handle on this, been to many specialists, ENT, VTPhsyso, Behavioural optometrist booked. I find the exercises are working, but its a slow process. Are SSRIs the best way forward, or have others beaten this purely on exercises and exposure alone (noting a combination is probably best, just wanting to know if i can beat this without the SSRIs)? Tia.

PPPD and nausea

Hey All, My Pppd comes fun packed with Nausea, which is actually waking me up at night / preventing me from doing even more during the day. I've started taking ondanzetron to help symptoms, but this is short term. Some days the nausea is worse than the dizziness on a scale out of 10. Anyone else got the full package? TIA

Wipeout! Social events

Hey All, guessing we are all in the same rocking boat here, returning to social events and being completely wiped out? Im 4 months in and trying to slowly introduce some normality to my life as staying home is of no help. I went to a friend's small bday gathering and lasted 2hrs until I had to leave, now home again and wiped out. Am I to accept that this is my new baseline to move forward? People who have progressed, did you just keep this up? Tia

Update: 2 days after, still wipedout .... really pays to know your limits

Swimming for Costochondritis

Hey All, had some recent flair ups - mostly sleeping is my issue, as i can avoid triggers during the day. In my non-sleep pain dream state, I was thinking swimming might be helpful for costo. Has anyone had success from doing some basic freestyle or water movement? Tia

Job - has anyone had to quit or change jobs as a result of PPPD?

Hey All, im finding it hard to return back to my current job, even know its a desk job. Has anyone else had to make such choices?

Ive been in my current job for 15 years, they are not allowing me to WFH anymore unfortunately, which was only 2 days per week out of the 5. Having those days was super helpful for recovery, but am now considering changing jobs.

I'd love to hear your story,

Tia 😊

Has Anyone beaten this?

3 months into this, everyday is a gamble, occasional good days/bad days/horrible days. Im determined to get gud, as they say. Im sick of complaining, sick of diagnosing, sick of scans/tests coming back normal. This looks to be a time thing, as I have been doing the exercises Mind & body, some improvements, but so slow, with some set back days.

What did your timeline look like, if you have beaten this, please share, I'd love hear.

Has Anyone tried an Electric Adjustable Bed? Bed/Mattress/Pillow upgrades!

Hey All, i've just returned from a shop around for a new Mattress, as my current sealy is not meeting needs for the healing of my costo (great for lower back - too firm for ribs).

By chance, came across an Electric Adjustable Bed, as i lay in this bed in a seated type position (Zero-G) i felt a significant drop in pain comparing with laying flat on that same mattress. I've tried this same setup with pillows at home, not even close to the same feeling.

Has anyone trialed this setup?
