New leather on the Spirit Zulu Time

Chillin on the balcony this afternoon with a cold drink and enjoying some sunshine. After a month backorder I finally got the calf leather strap and OTF micro-adjust deployant clasp from Longines. Loving it! Think I prefer the SZT on leather instead of the stainless bracelet.

Not Another Hydroconquest Post - Part Deux

About a month ago I posted my 39mm Spirit Zulu Time L3.802.4.50.6 reference. I love the watch, it’s been an absolute pleasure to own.

It’s back and this time on leather. This ref only comes on the steel bracelet, and if you’ve tried to buy the leather straps online through the Longines website you’ll know they’re constantly out of stock or do not include the deployant clasp.

I contacted the Swatch parts department and ordered the strap and clasp through them. It was back ordered for 4-6 weeks. I placed my order on April 16th, it was shipped on May 15th and delivered the 19th.

This is the beige semi-gloss strap, I’ve wiped it down with a little Saphir Renovatuer and buffed it, so it’s a little darker and a bit higher gloss. I really love the look and feel of this strap with the copper and gilt accents, and the clicking OTF micro-adjustable clasp is really nice too. I think I prefer this watch on leather.

I actually had planned to only keep the clasp, and have a custom strap made, but this calfskin is very nice and the box stitching seems fitting.

For anyone interested in having a custom strap made for this clasp, the strap itself is 21/18mm, 115mm length hole side, 90mm length buckle side, holes are 2mm with spacing at 6mm center to center. 7 holes total, first hole (measuring from lug side) starts at 60mm. Thickness of the padded end is about 4mm and tapers down quickly to 3mm towards the other end. The hole spacing and thickness are important as the clasp has two posts and won’t fit any thicker of a strap. On my 7-7.25” wrist the clasp sits in the 3rd & 4th holes and the clasp head lands roughly centerline of my wrist. Hopefully that’s helpful to someone, I was searching for these specific details a month ago. 🙂

Not Another Sealander Post

New watch day! Figured I’d break the Sealander streak around here.

Digging the depth of the dial, thinness, lightweight, and of course the lume. If you can read the “chronometer” text in a pitch black room from the lume alone then it’s probably sufficient, yeah?

I chose this unseen (in person) over the new Hydroconquest. Not disappointed, and definitely appreciate something a little more unique. It’s one of those “pics don’t do it justice” watches. There were moments where the product photos and review videos made it look a bit boring, had me a bit worried TBH, but over the weeks I kept coming back to certain pictures that really struck me and pulled the trigger. Glad I did.
