An essential non essential purchase 🤣

My movie memorabilia collection is getting out of hand … similar to the kid in lost boys who has nowhere to put the stuffed animals his gramps keeps giving him, so he shoves them all in the cupboard 🤣 The wife likes this one though, so I get to keep it on show 🙌

Return of the Living Dead - 80’s horror perfection!

One of the best comedy horror films of all time, made in a decade full of brilliant genre movies, Return of the Living dead is top tier 80’s horror class!
It’s a fast paced, scary, hilarious and has some of the best practical effects you’re likely to see in this genre.
I used to work in a video store back in the 90’s and we’d always recommend this one. We never had a bad review come back.
What are your experiences with this masterpiece?

The Lost Boys

Watching this again last night for the millionth time 🤣 It always delivers! A perfect blend of horror, 80’s pop culture and style, with a brilliant soundtrack!

Back in the day I had this on VHS and I’d almost worn the tape out playing it so much lol Yet when I watch it all these years later it still feels fresh and exciting. I just absolutely love this movie

Snake in the Eagles Shadow

What an absolute treat of a movie this was. I hadn’t seen the film in ages, the last time being on VHS back in the 90’s, it felt like a whole new experience watching it now in Blu Ray.

Although I love the old school grain and wear of these classic movies, it can also be quite distracting on VHS when running through the larger modern TVs. So when the studio releases something like this that carries with it an element of grain and wear, but enhances it for even better clarity, it’s a win-win situation.

This is one of the best Jackie Chan movies, and one of the best martial arts movies in general … in my opinion. The styles and skill of Jackie are incredible to watch, and the pacing is pitch perfect. Drunken Master next 👀

Thanks to studios like 88 Films, my collection is growing fast. Looking forward to spending more money 🤣

Dirty Ho - genius choreography!

I found this completely fascinating. The choreography was jaw dropping, and the whole thing plays out like a comedy of manners told in a physical language that was both hilarious and artful. I’ve had a good run of these old school kung fu movies recently 😍 Long may it continue!

Heroes of the East

I’ve been watching loads of Lau Kar-Leung recently, and they just seem to get better and better. Top tier choreography with some of the best weapon fights I’ve seen.

Clan of the White Lotus

One of the those movies where the story is pretty much non existent, but the kung fu is so good that you don’t actually care 🤣 Choreography by Lau Kar-leung at the absolute peak of his powers! Really fun movie

Shaw Bros. Presents

What a brilliant compilation this is. I know Shaw Brothers have done hundreds of films and this is only the tip of the iceberg, but as a compilation this is top tier! Arrow did a great job on these. The transfers are excellent, plenty of extras, and the packaging looks fantastic too.

Executioners from Shaolin

This one had it all for me. Incredible fight scenes, awesome villain, mixture of styles, great dialogue on the English dub, and a genuine heart at the centre of it all. Looking forward to watching its sequel, Clan of the White Lotus, which I’ve just ordered off eBay 😍

The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter - wow!

Watched this for the first time yesterday, and I have to say it’s straight into my top 5 martial arts movies of all time! The dramatic intensity and the incredible choreography all come together to deliver the best final 15 minutes of material arts cinema I think I’ve ever seen.

Any fans out there?
