Persian Food in Gladesville

We saw Hani Persian restaurant was 30% off on Eatclub, so we gave it a try. It was very delicious and fresh. The first photo is an eggplant dish with garlic and some kinda hummus and you eat it with bread. The 2nd photo is the mixed kebab platter. I forgot to take a photo of the yogurt dip — you have to order this yogurt dip, it’s like a thick yogurt ice cream. We will definitely be back!

Steak & Frites Baguette

We were at the Red Lion pub in Rozelle yesterday and it was the first time we saw so many orders of the steaks & frites baguette. So then, we went back today to try it.

It is good to note that the kitchen/restaurant upstairs is run by Chef Manu. As for the baguette, it was tasty, the highlight was the rich butter which was absorbed by the bread. It just needs salt and pepper and maybe like a white sauce just to kinda balance it out, but overall i would say it was 7/10.

It was $33 and my son devoured it.

Also worth noting, Red Lion serves the best chicken schnitty for me. The vibe of the pub has changed ever since they renovated.

Joe’s Tavern

The 50/50 burger was great! $32
The onion rings I think was marinated in vinegar. It was interestingly good and super crispy.
We ordered their roast lamb specials for the night and it did not disappoint.
The entrees were ok, they were both deep fried so I wasn’t much of a fan. The entrees also stuffed me up so I had a difficult time when the mains arrived. The vibe was quiet and the service was attentive. I’ve tried the other restaurants next to it, and I feel like Joe’s Tavern is better than Mister Grotto and Osteria Mucca.

Lab diamond studs

Just wanted to share I just purchased my first ever real diamond. I’ve always had CZ ones and they turn cloudy. They are 3 ctw with IGI certificates. Purchased them from ETSY. I was reluctant at first but the reviews of the shop was great. I just feel like it’s too extravagant for everyday wear. Nonetheless, I’m still wearing them to work 😆💕

Sydney Street Patisserie St. Mary’s

I tried the steak and cheese pie from Sydney Street Patisseie at St. Mary’s today.

It was $7.50 and you can see people dropping by to get their lunch here.

My verdict: the pie is smaller than the usual pie, but it’s actually good because the pie is held together by the firm crust. It kinda reminded me of Jamaican patties in terms of the pastry.

The beef was tender, more like a slow cooked brisket rather than steak. The cheese was minimal but the meat was substantial anyway. The taste was perfect, it had the right amount of salt and it didn’t taste like a thickened sauce where they just add thickener to it.

I’d say Just Baked had the thick cheese in their pie, but the meat filling at Sydney Street Patisserie was perfect.

Just Baked St. Mary’s

Went to St. Mary’s today to try the famous pies of Just Baked. There was a queue but they serve really fast. The pie was good, pastry was soft and very fresh. I got the steak and cheese pie and the cheese was thick on top of the pie just below the surface pastry. The pie didn’t spill like a slop and the meat wasn’t tough. I would go get it again if I’m in the area.
