Aug. 14, 2026 protest outside Stellar Aviation, host of ICE deportation flights at Reno airport

When ICE Air flights land at airports to pick up kidnapped deportees, they don't stop at the regular passenger terminal but at a private terminal -- or, in aviation terminology, a fixed base operator or FBO. At the Reno Tahoe International Airport, their contract FBO is Stellar Aviation, a private business with branches in 3 states. This was the site of the protest outside the Reno airport on August 14.

Experience with "balcony" (plug-in) solar units?

I want to look at a rooftop solar installation for the house I'm moving into (south MPLS), but since it might be a while before I'm ready for a project that size, I wanted to know if anyone has experience with "balcony" or "plug-in" solar power units. I read that the MN legislature is considering a bill to permit them, but does anyone here have experience using them?

Stellar Aviation at Reno/Tahoe airport = ICE

Are you flying to the playa?

Planes bound for the playa often leave from Reno Tahoe International Airport -- not from the passenger terminal, but from a private charter terminal across the airport operated by Stellar Aviation.

Every Friday morning, another plane lands at Stellar Aviation. This plane is part of the ICE Air network of flights that pick up and shuttle people who have been arrested by ICE to other states -- so that their attorneys in their home state can't file habeas corpus petitions. (For example, anyone detained by ICE in Northern Nevada will be flown out of state to the ICE hub in Mesa, AZ. Once a detainee is out of their home state, they often cannot be found by their lawyers or families, and it's much more difficult to secure their release.)

Every Friday, between one and 20 detainees -- shackled at the wrists and ankles -- board this flight at Stellar Aviation. This unsafe practice of shackling their wrists together and to chains at their waists means that in the event of the plane depressurizing in an emergency, passengers cannot reach the oxygen masks that automatically drop from the ceiling.

Activists in Reno monitor and observe these flights every Friday and took the pictures attached to this post.

Burning man attendees, are you okay with this?

Titus Andronicus at the Black Forest Inn

The Birth Play Project's production of "Titus Andronicus" at the Black Forest Inn in Minneapolis is across the street from the site of Alex Pretti's murder by federal agents, and the day before the play opened was the 6-month anniversary. It was remarkable to watch this violent play in that context. www.broadwayworld.com/minneapolis/...

Dumbwaiter, anyone?

My my friends with a 1915 farmhouse are interested in installing a dumbwaiter between the ground level and the basement. Does anyone have experience installing or maintaining a dumbwaiter who could help with design and implementation?

Cannot find a car to rent in Mpls, or is it just me

Maybe this is obvious to locals but I'm visiting. Is there something huge going on locally? Because I cannot rent a car here, they all say they're sold out.

New homeowner looking for a native plants gardener in Lyndale

I'm looking for a gardener who can both design and supervise the planting of native flowers and plants in my current yard, which is now bare after regrading. After the flowers and native plants are planted, I will need somebody to come by on a regular basis, perhaps weekly or every 10 days, to maintain and sustain the garden/grounds.

At the house I owned and occupied in another city, a guy who lived in the neighborhood came weekly to maintain our small garden. I employed him for over 15 years, paid him throughout the pandemic whether he could work or not, and relied on his advice and judgment as well as his reliability. I'm looking for someone like that in my neighborhood of Lyndale, Minneapolis.

Pay is $20-25/hr. Seeking someone who I can pay directly rather than using a service.

Sun Country Airlines to/from Reno -- aircraft type?

Can anyone tell me what type of aircraft Sun Country uses to fly on its Reno-Minneapolis route, and can you compare it to (for example) Southwest, which uses 737-700 and 737-800s?
