Tried good whiskeys for the first time

Short background
I first tried whiskey when I was 18 some stuff that’s not really regarded as good at all and it definitely pushed me away from whiskey in general. 2 years later after graduating from culinary program I looked back on the spirit and wines course and decided to invest myself into higher quality spirits

(All whiskeys mentioned are Canadian whiskeys)

I tried 3 different whiskeys at once
Lot 40 100% rye
John sleeman & sons traditional straight
Bearface wilderness series 03

I gave each one a smell and taste and comparing it to the whiskey I tried two years ago (Jp wisers deluxe) and the difference is huge these whiskeys actually smelt and tasted amazing by themselves and in an old fashioned cocktail.

I’m still majorly inexperienced only have started doing personal research on spirits and whiskeys my only prior experience being about a week of schoolwork on the topic of whiskeys but am excited to learn more and taste more whiskeys

I’m especially excited to try Alberta premium cask strength when I get the chance

Tried some good whiskeys and wow

Two years ago when I turned 18 I tried whiskey as my first spirit brand JpWisers deluxe and I think I tried a vanilla one of the same brand as a second try. Didnt really like either of them and wasn’t a fan of alcohol in general

Two years later after finishing a culinary arts program which involved a class on spirits and wine I thought yeah that’s cool alcohol is a moneymaker in the industry

I get home after that program and I just go to work doing research on alcohols and found myself trying 3 different whiskeys

Lot 40 100% rye
John sleeman traditional straight
Bear face wilderness series 03

I bought the bottles a bit pricier but after trying each one of them giving them a good smell trying them by themselves and mixing them in an old fashioned they’re incredible. The smells I get from these whiskeys are amazing and I can just imagine how I can take advantage of these aromas in my recipes.

The rye whiskey was definitely a lot stronger and feels like something you’d need time to adjust too but I can tell it’s a very good whiskey

Comparing it to my first whiskey and my previous spirit of choice (Appleton estate Jamaican rum) is light and day

I’m excited to try other quality Canadian whiskeys like the Alberta premium cask strength which through a bit of research is considered one of the best whiskeys in Canada so I’ll be excited to try that (with a small splash of water of course)

Anyone sees these whiskeys in Thompson liquor store?

I’m from further up north building a bar and I can’t find a damn good corn based whiskey. I have someone coming down to Thompson and hoping any locals recognize these bottles in the liquor store there

Substitutes for bourbon in cocktails?

I’m in Canada and you can’t get bourbon here anymore. Are there any substitutes or bourbon style (mostly corn) Canadian whiskeys I’ll be able to find at a midrange price?

The current whiskey I have for cocktails is a 100% rye lot 40 whiskey

Finished the light novel and have a few questions

Having spend last 2 weeks reading volume 8-17 I absolutely loved the series especially the search for the mad bomber and Kazuma vs the demon king

The ending had ended rather abruptly after Kazuma was resurrected with a small bit of details in the afterword when Kazuma was talking to Eris.

Is there any extra material that takes place after volume 17? There was a lot of things I wanted to read like kazuma celebration, reactions from the royal capitol, megumin learning kazuma has learned explosion, the fate of the demon kings daughter, and why the demon kings name was Japanese

I’ve only read the short story of megumin and Kazuma going on a date but other than that I haven’t seen anything else but the anime’s megumin spinoff.

What stuff was created after the end of volume 17

Do I simply suffer from the greatest skill issue of all time

Despite having 170 hours on nightreign and 263 hours in Elden ring I still find myself struggling to do fight anything outside of crucible knights.

I really feel like a liability to the team and even when I go into solos to practice I can’t even kill a royal revenant before being pushed out by the night

As much as I wanna get better it took 40 expeditions of fighting hoelster straight to simply become decent at fighting him

Megumin artworks from LN volume 9 & 10 “SPOILERS”

I’ve started to continue the story by the light novel and never expected to enjoy reading as much I am with this series. It makes me all the more excited for the next season (which should cover volume 8-9) with how emotional the battle with the general who was associated with megumin.

Excited to start volume 12

How would you guys imagine the story of Konosuba would go if Yunyun joined Kazumas group before darkness

Ignoring important details why Yunyun couldn’t join the group other than not being available at the time or not seeing the flyer how would the Kazumas group proceed with the story?

No offence to darkness but she arguably contributes the least to the gang compared to Kazuma, megumin, and Kazuma

There’s also the fact the group would also contain 2 arch priests and have a much more capable member for the smaller quests like slaying roads or the time they fought those lizards fellas

I imagine it would impact megumins growth causing her to be weaker at the time of major fights and the relations with Kazuma and Chris possibly being severed or majorly impacted

What do you guys things? How would the story progress and how would major fights play out (vs the dullahan, vanir, Slyvia, fortress destroyer)

As a kid I would lather my poutine with ketchup… I couldn’t grab an image because I could not dare do that to poutine again.

I always put ketchup on my fries and thought poutine was no different. It never tasted “good” but it was good enough for my 8 year old self to eat it..

I stopped doing it after seeing how unappetizing the mix of gravy and ketchup looked at the bottom of my empty plate.
