Just hit death 100

I can't lie to you brother stalkers, I totally missed it, I was going to edit out the 2 and jokingly say "ah ten deaths and I just reached garbage, I'm doing great" with the obvious empty space....

But the fucking AI editing tool decided to replace the 2 I circled with a 0. As if the number was the problem.

Ha ha jokes on me, ai can suck it

Oh God I'm a healthcare worker now

So.

I made some mistakes, texted the head of a care facility and sort of casually mentioned that I wanted a job, and was referred to him by a family we know.

His reply "hey, here's a place to fill out the application, we'll need to go through a background check so you'll be getting an offer letter for that."

Cool. Fill out the job app, put in relevant ish info, but I'm not super exact.

Get the -letter- email for the background check the next morning, accept. Background check goes through.

"Hey, so the next phase in your onboarding is to put in all of this information and take these classes, don't worry, they're paid."

"What?"

"Yeah, next time you drive up to town you'll meet the team"

I have not even found a place to live in the city I'm moving to.

So my job (insofar as I understand it) is to go to an assigned client (disabled customer) and assist with their daily life, or just help them get out of the house and do stuff.

They have a pool of clients that they serve, and I'll just be added into the rotation.

I have no idea what I'm going to do, other than a lot of learning about the lives of disabled people, or really anything else that has to do with.... This...

My thought is to start with "what do you want to do? What are your interests? Let's go do something active!"

And then have a few things to do in my back pocket. Fishing (we live in fly fishing country, I can make a very simple rod, and fishing licenses are free for those on disability.)

For those that would obviously not be a good idea with, I've got books, a public park, and like.... A pool. I have no idea.

I also have enough patience to teach people how to shoot archery, slingshot, I think there's an axe throwing place.

I feel like I've thought this out about as well as my employer has, and I'm scared I'm not prepared for this.

One of the first trainings was about how loose items in the back of the car can be used as weapons, immediately followed by a waiver that says "I agree to not hold my employer liable for damages to my vehicle."

I actually laughed out loud at that.

So like, if you have a job similar, what do you like... Do.. with clients.

I'm absolutely incredibly lost, but I'm determined to do this.

Fishing the flaming gorge, hoping to do some reading and waiting type fishing

Hey! I'm driving down to the gorge this weekend for some fishing, and I particularly want to target the monster fish that I always see in the shallows, but everyone tells me to avoid them at all costs

Carp, catfish, small dogs, all things people tell me are bad to hook.

I've got some 40 lb test line, a Smith's card, and about three gigs of Warhammer 40,000 novels on my kindle.

So I'd love to hear your tips and tricks, if you've got any.

Hi there! I specifically fish for invasive species, and would really like to get some advice for catching carp

So I have no idea why this is such a contentious issue on the fishing subreddit.

Carp are an invasive species that are infesting my estuary, I want to help combat the fish that are infesting my lovely lake by catching as many as possible.

This is not illegal, fish and game will actually thank you.

Please give me some advice on catching carp, I'll test it, and we can compare notes.

Thank you!

The single most useless piece of shit that I could ever imagine.

Has anyone else seen these absolutely worthless ai tools for mechanics?

I'm tired of pretending like these people are adding value to the fields they try to colonize with the same arrogance and despicable attitudes as the white colonists of old.

They put a frontend on chatgpt or clod with the prompt "you are a mechanic, you diagnose problems with people's cars, research dtc codes, and tell them what is most likely to break"

Then they let the fucker loose like a toddler at a park, and expect it to not immediately shit it's pants, get confused, and tell someone to kill themselves.

Don't trust LLM based tools for anything. Ever. They are perfectly safe and reliable right up until they aren't, and when they get something wrong, they get it wrong hard.

Be safe out there wrench turners.

Edit: apparently the ai gets it wrong in the fucking demo. The cat is way more likely to be gone.

(In my case, I would replace the sensor first, not because I disagree, but because I want to experience some hope before I inevitably have to replace the cat)

Swedish archeologists discover bodies at "corpse point" I'm shocked.

Who would have thought they'd have buried them at corpse point? I mean happy time cove, euphoria falls, and sex bay are right there.

So I'm working on a science fiction story where the main character is the Capitan of The Defiance, the first 99.99 C (as in percentage of the speed of light the gun achieves when firing) basically it's a Corvette ship traditionally used for fighter screening that has been built around the biggest mobile artillery cannon that humanity has built.

To make a very very very long story short, the ship has a standard event horizon drive for interstellar navigation, and then four more of them to fire the gun, which is like.... A lot of energy.

The main question I have is this: What would a bullet designed to be fired with as much energy humanity can put on a weapons platform? What would govern the shape of it, the mass, and the material? How would you imagine it to behave in flight?

I ask because I want a diverse range of opinions, and since this is based off of an HFY story that I really liked (with permission and credited) I figured I'd ask reddit to get your opinions on it

I posted earlier about my forge build being a recession indicator, but I'm genuinely happy with how it has turned out. if I'm being honest, I couldn't get the air fuel mix that I wanted by using a standard Venturi. so I built a ribbon burner forge built around a dimmer switch and a leaf blower.

I am very happy with it, but I'd love to hear what you think about it!
