(17) - (26) from abused teenager to flourishing adult

When I was 17 I was being abused my by mum and stepdad. I was being under fed, under nourished, neglected and not allowed to shower more than once per week which resulted in me looking dirty, greasy and disgusting. I felt very bad about myself but now as an adult nearly 10 years on from the first photo I’m flourishing as an adult.

I’ve put on a healthy amount of weight, I eat better, I shower as often as I like and no one will hurt me again.

Please use the do not disturb hangers in hotels…

To preface this, I’m a housekeeping supervisor at a medium sized hotel, I’ve worked here for 4 years and over that time this type of thing has happened maybe 5 or 6 times but everytime I just want the ground to swallow me up out of embarrassment.

When we have guests stay multiple nights we provide a Do Not Disturb sign for them to hang on their doors so housekeeping do not go in and bother them. Everyone knows this right?

Well today I needed to put something in a stay over room, I notice there is no Do Not Disturb sign so I knock the door and say ‘housekeeping’ loudly. I wait, I hear nothing so I assume the guests have gone out for the day. Lo and behold I open the door to a couple having sex…

I apologised profusely whist closing the door very very quickly. Felt my face start tingling as it went red from embarrassment and surprise. Called the hotel manager to inform them what happened in case we get a complaint but what irks me is this; surely if you’re in your hotel room and obviously don’t want to be walked in on or disturbed, WHY NOT PUT THE DO NOT DISTURB SIGN OUT?

Mind you this was at 12 pm, hardly an early morning incident which is a bit more understandable.

I feel very embarrassed and annoyed that they didn’t even answer me when I knocked on their door either. I know they would’ve heard me as they were dead quiet.

Edit: there is a deadbolt on the door, they did not use it. My key card only lets me access the room when this bolt is unlocked.

They also did not say a single thing to stop me when I was entering the room, no shouts or saying ‘no stop’. Just silence. I think they wanted to be caught :(

Council not cleaning up glass in the streets causing tyre damage

Glass everywhere!

I cycle to work most days and I’ve been finding my bike tyres deflating every few weeks which is very frustrating for me. I went out today and decided to count the amount of glass I could see which could potentially cause the tyre damage.

I counted 9 separate patches of glass, almost all of them in the cycle lanes and because they’re so wide spread they’re practically unavoidable. I also ride on the roads where cycling is permitted and there’s glass all over the roads too. What is going on?

I’ve upgraded my inner tubes to those slime type ones but they seemingly don’t work that well, they’re meant to be self sealing but I’ve gone through 3 of them in the past 6 months.

I’m thinking of writing a letter to the council and asking them to start actually cleaning the streets but I know it won’t go anywhere. Really frustrating as I’m getting to the point where I can’t ride my bike without getting a puncture no matter where I go.

Need to have grommets in both ears

As stated in the title, both of my ears need grommets after an ear infection won’t improve with medication anymore, it’s been nearly 2 and a half months of continuous deafness and ringing on the left side.

This will be my first surgery in 25 years and the anxiety is building. Anyone have any advice for adults getting grommets? What are the do’s and don’t’s for recovery?

Like the title states, I bought a second hand pair of AirPods Max headphones as I can no longer wear in ear earphones due to an infection leaving my ears ruined (long story) anyway, I was recommended these headphones as they have Live Listen in them like my in Airpods 2nd Gen do so I can hear people when they speak to me otherwise I'm totally deaf.

I bought them from a shop called CEX which, if you don't know, sells used tech which is refurbished, cleaned and resold back to the public at a cheaper cost. These particular ones were the cheapest I could find at £220. I needed them at short notice so decided it was worth it.

As soon as I got home I took off the headphones from the headband then the ear pads, wiped them with an antibacterial sprayed cloth (damp, not wet), I cleaned the inside of the headphones with a few Q tips to make sure it was sanitary. I then put everything back together again once they had dried.

I charged them up, the light was showing green so I tried to pair them to my iPhone 16, got nothing. I tried to do a forced restart and was met with 3 flashing amber lights but no white light following. I have now been researching this and seemingly it appears to be a well known issue! Wish I had known beforehand to be honest.

As soon as I realised there was an issue I contacted Apple Support, talk about useless. They said it would cost me £280 to get them sent off and possibly repaired, I said no.

Should I bother trying to fix this or just go back to the shop I got them from and demand a refund (even though they don't issue refunds, only store credit!)
