CVT Fluid

If you have 60k or more miles on your Forester and haven’t changed your CVT/ Transmission fluids, I HIGHLY recommend doing so. My 2015 Forester 2.5i Touring is a couple miles shy of 76k and I checked my CVT fluid a couple months ago &it was like a reddish brown and I should’ve done it than but than today I had enough of the way it was riding so I changed it and now knowing it’s supposed to be GREEN, I should’ve done it awhile ago. But all this to say, my car now rides sooo much smoother since I changed the fluid.

Throttle Controller

So I ordered a Throttle Controller for my 2015 Forester 2.5i because as we all know these electronic throttles lag compared to traditional cable throttles and I was skeptical as hell about it but wow, I’m truly impressed yall. Most definitely makes a difference. I highly recommend the Hikeit Throttle Response Controller

Gas

Good morning Foresters!
A little Q&A

  1. How low do you let your fuel gauge get before refilling? (Not how low have you let it get, on a daily routine)
  2. Is it worth switching from Regular Octane fuel to Plus or Premium/ V-Power fuel? Does it make a difference in how long the gas lasts? Or in how the car operates at all? Has anyone actually tried it?

Throttle Body

My throttle body AND MAF Sensor are officially clean like they’re brand new BUT, I took it for a test drive and it seemed glitchy responding to my press on the gas pedal. I used C&C MAF and Throttle Body cleaners (separately for their designed purpose of course) and than again it seemed lagging &jumpy all day - could that be more of a transmission or an intake issue? Or does the ECU just need time relearning my patterns?

On Prime

I need some suggestions on what to watch on Prime Video, I’m currently watching Citadel which is pretty good but I need another show. I already have watched Jack Ryan and Reacher which were good. What’s next?

Throttle Controller

Has anyone installed a throttle response controller in their forester? I just bought one so I guess this question doesn’t really matter since I already made the purchase but…

Does it make a difference or did I waste my money? 💰

I WANT

Saw this beauty the other day I THINK it’s a 2018 5th gen Forester. The seats inside these beauties are great- like a bucket seat just not a deep BRIDE like bucket.

Know How?

So I’m trying to switch my factory air intake box and hose to a customized cold air intake - I could easily get a MAF sensor adapter and a cone filter and boom done but I also wanna do custom piping to make it look less “stock”

My question is, does anyone know where the hose coming off the CAI would go? Because I’ve read to the PCV valve but that’s considered downstream and connects directly to the intake manifold so that’s not possible… I found 1 other hose that comes from the intake hose (area circled) that goes mid engine bay driver side but where it connects there’s 2 hoses there. One is the red line and the other idk yet.

The hose goes from the circles area to the end of that red line under the intake manifold. Would this be the “breather line” that sends air directly into the engine and than I’m assuming it burns and get fed back into the manifold to be burned again through the PCV valve/ hose at least that’s my understanding.

Switching oil

Alright so, I recently did an oil change with the recommended 0W-20 full synthetic but I’ve been reading switching to 5W-30 oil is a high recommendation what about 5w-20 full synthetic? Has anyone tried this? Does your car run any better or worse?

More work

So this weekend I decided to pull the tools out &work on my Subie again - so far I’ve done PCV Valve, spark plugs, Cylinder 4’s coil pack (really wanna do the rest of them) all spark plugs &this weekend I cleaned out the Throttle Body - 2015 model &I swear it seemed as though it’s NEVER been cleaned! The outside bore wasn’t too bad but the inside manifold bore 🤯😱 pitch black! I’m gonna have to rip it apart again when I have an extra pair of feet so someone can push the accelerator and open the butterfly valve to get a little more out but I got it roughly 90% cleaner and what a difference!
HIGHLY recommend if your having sputtering, rough idling or sluggish acceleration that you check your throttle body because I cleaned mine and holy crap it’s like a completely different car!
