In my worldbuilding, I'm trying to create a scenario where a planet is almost ready for habitation and the politics of impending colonization creates conflict.

Given this goal, what terraforming techniques would be needed juuuust before the green light to colonize?

I'm basically trying to create an "almost ideal" planet instead of one that needs millennia of terraforming. Any thoughts on the planet itself, the techniques, and the timeline are welcome.

Hello! I have a question for readers of non-fiction because I mainly read fiction and don't know where to begin. I recently completed a personal essay I've spent years developing. The essay covers my fragile masculinity in early years, then chronicles my development into healthy confidence, then my switch to veganism. I discuss the new insecurities that came with going vegan, given how so many people push back on the lifestyle by citing concerns about soy, protein, etc.

The essay isn't an argument piece to get people to go vegan. Instead, it showcases somebody pursuing the lifestyle despite pushback from society, especially toxic males who make jokes about "soy boys" and things like that. Ideally, people who read the essay will stick along for the ride because I'm not lecturing them, but rather showing them that there's a vegan who isn't sanctimonious, understands the challenges and social hurdles, and still stays vegan. The essay is from the perspective of a sympathetic "character" they can potentially relate to, and can hopefully shed light on some of the myths around manhood and animal cruelty.

Where should I try to get this published? I don't want it to appear in a likeminded publication for the kind of people open to veganism, animal rights, etc. They're not my audience because they are already sympathetic. My audience is the general population. I want them to witness the journey and resolve, without the lecture.
