Anyone make the change to nutritionist?

Hi all! Just a quick background- I’ve been in food/bev for over 20 years, I started as a teenager in a pizza shop in 2005 and have done just about everything. Mom and pops, Michelin & James beard, corporate etc. I now own my own super small company as a private chef/small caterer.

I work part time but have won a few of those food network shows so I can charge a good amount for a couple days work a week (like a ten person pasta class could pay my mortgage and doesn’t take much work on my end). I chose this route for this time in our lives because we have a small kid and I wanted to be home most of the time.

Now that she’s getting older and starting pre-k I’m thinking ahead to when she’s in school full time and what I could do. Like many of us on here, I’m looking to make a bit of a change but I still love food and can’t imagine doing something else. I am at a crossroads of either building my business back up or switching completely. The idea of being back on the line pushing forty and definitely being the primary parent (how would I handle school pick ups/kids being sick etc) makes my stomach drop. Running my small company does have good profit sometimes, but I have a big event coming up and I am barely breaking even with the cost of shit lately.

I have always really loved the idea of being a nutritionist and now that I have a kid I think it would be great do focus on pediatric nutrition. Has anyone made this switch? If so how did you do it? Thanks!

What can we realistically do about the driving?

I don’t mean more flock cameras but can we rally together and get people tested every ten years? Bring it down to every five after sixty and every one after 75? I’m fighting for my life every day with my kid in the back behind some 97 year old going 45 in the passing lane and the 20 year old going 110 in the bmw aggressively swerving in and out of cars. And everyone in between is on their phone not paying attention. I used to drive all over New England for work about ten years ago and ever since the pandemic the driving (which was already bad) has taken a complete nose dive. Is there any kind of action anyone can take to help this?

Sloped yard suggestions

Hey! We bought our house in 2021 with a 2.8% interest rate and aren’t going anywhere. At the time we didn’t have children and thought “oh the hill will be fun for sledding it’ll be fine” but now I’m yearning for some flat play space. We have two retaining walls but one is really just sinking, behind the deck, and the other is holding up a good bit with the garden bed (which we know we need to clean up). I’m also a bit worried about erosion. This summer has been really dry so far and the grass is already dying as if it were September. The land is just a few inches of dirt and grass on top of a straight granite boulder

One of my ideas is to extend the retaining wall in front of the shed, remove the shed and try and flatten that part out but I know that would cost a pretty penny. Any tips on how to make a slanted yard more fun or more flat would be appreciated!

Found in kitchen by back door. Posted a little while ago but got a clearer picture. Located in northeast USA. Keeping my fingers crossed for a wood roach but getting different answers
