Something I’d like to point out about the endo and willo hate- which WILL be a hot take on here.

I’m going to start off by saying that it’s not okay for anyone to go actively attacking any type of system or plurality for existing. But it DOES make sense why DID/OSDD folks to dislike non-disordered systems, namely endos and willos, as much as people on here like to deny.

So, the endo community uses the same terms as the DID/OSDD community. You could even argue that the terms were stolen. System, alter, etc…. those ARE terms that came from the DID/OSDD community. Therefore, the overlap can cause outsiders to falsely believe that endo systems are the same as DID/OSDD systems, when they’re completely different in how they form and function. While most of the misinformation is spread unintentionally, you really can’t say that it doesn’t exist at all. Plus, the overlap can make diagnosed folks feel invalidated, even when that ain’t the intention.

And, onto more medical/science based stuff- the endo and willo community does, usually unintentionally, spread a lot of medical misinformation due to overlapping terms. it’s pretty well known that endo and willo systems dont have much medical backing. This isn’t an issue, as not everything needs extensive medical or scientific backing to be valid, but it does cause an issue with the overlapping terms, and the rare occasion where an endo or willo system tries to go into DID/OSDD spaces. Many folks I’ve talked to say that they really wouldn’t have much of an issue with endos and the like if they stayed in their designated spaces and vice versa. And, for the most part, this is what happens, but to say that endos NEVER invade medical based subreddits would be false, even if it’s much less frequent than people make it out to be.

As for willos, many folks with DID/OSDD feel really negatively about the idea of people willingly making headmates, as it contradicts the way that alters form as according to medical studies, and the idea of even wanting alters is extremely earful to many of them, as DID/OSDD is an extremely distressing and traumatic thing to deal with. Again, with the overlapping terms, it seems that the main issue diagnosed systems have with willo systems is that they use the same terms rather than something more akin to tuplas.

Now, I know I’m going to get downvoted to hell for a lot of this. But I feel like people on this sub tend to forget that DID/OSDD systems DO have genuine reasons to dislike or disbelieve non-disordered systems, especially endos and willos. Is some of the hate due to things that were blown out of proportion? Sure. But it’s not completely random. I’m personally fine with all kinds of systems, but it’s important to know WHY people have the point of view that they do. If you want more of the “why”, then you can probably find plenty of diagnosed systems venting on DID/OSDD subreddits.

Can alters really know tastes, skills, etc that the body has for sure never done, eaten, heard, or even seen? Or is that a misconception?

Hey y’all. So I‘ve heard of a number of people, IRL and online, talking about alters who know what certain things taste/feel like, how to do a certain skill, etc., but the body/host/core has never done/had any of it. (ex. knowing what pizza tastes like despite none of the alters/the body ever eating it while fronting n stuff)

To me, this is confusing, because alters are all a part of the same brain, so how could they know things that the brain doesn’t? I haven’t found much online, everything I’ve seen just talks about alters knowing stuff that the others don’t because they did it while fronting and there’s too many barriers. I’ve mostly assumed it’s a misconception but I figured I’d double check to be safe.

Is there a term for this kind of system?

We’ve been a system for…roughly five years now? Maybe longer? It’s blurry. Anyways, I(the host/core, idfk) have been under the impression that we‘re endogenic, as we‘re pretty sure we don’t meet the criteria for DID. But looking into it more, endogenic systems do NOT originate from trauma (I’ve been misinterpreting shit and thought it was just an umbrella term for systems without DID and the like) . So what would be the term for a system that doesn’t seem to have DID, but does originate from (not super extreme) trauma? We have mostly shared memories (at least I think; i haven’t forgotten something super important to my knowledge), it just tends to get really blurry and we sometimes (collectively?) forget a lot of minor stuff, which may in part be from adhd.

None of us care a whole lot about labels, so it’s fine if there’s not anything specific. Is this just a generic traumagenic (sorry if I misspelled that) system and I’m overthinking it or what

Anyone else having weird experiences with alter names?

So, we’re a bit new to the plural community. It’s only been a few months since we first started getting involved and researching (beforehand, it was sort of just “oh, host has some voices in her head, just like everyone right? Haha, sure is silly, it’s like inside out!”)

Does anyone else have some like issues with alter names? Most of us have names, but those are the ones who are based off of the host’s OCs. But we have some recently discovered ones who aren’t OCs didn’t really come with names if that makes sense. The first non oc based one ended up just calling themself One, because they couldn’t come up with/remember a name and it was their first time fronting since we realized we were a system and that systems are a thing and all. Then we realized there was another non-OC, and he and everyone else just sorta started calling him Two because that was the next number. Neither of them had/have a name aside from their number, and they’re perfectly fine with the number system and the number names have grown on them well, but is this like something to be concerned about? Should all alters know their actual names (if they even have one at all) and backstories and stuff or are we overthinking it?

My opinion on the finale

I’ll start with the positives, because the rest if the is post is going to be largely negative.

So, I did like the flashback scene with Jax and Ribbit, at least on its own. I also liked the father daughter bonding at the beginning with Kinger showing the others how to manifest items and fix the circus.

Now, aside from that. The rest of the finale felt extremely anticlimactic, and most scenes were one of three things: predictable, confusing, or painful to watch.

For predictable stuff, I’d say things like Jax wandering off from the others to sulk, him abstracting, and really just about everything about what happened with Jax.

Confusing scenes for me were mainly Caine in the void with getting the mind files or whatever and having that weird flashback to creating scratch or whatever that was meant to be. And the happy ending felt really jarring and unfitting, almost rushed.

Painful to watch scenes were mainly like in Jax’s mind with gangle and zooble (Jax is a jerk, but the straight up sexual harassment and shaming zooble for being confused about gender felt really out of place, even for him), and how overused crying felt in the episode. previously, crying was used sparingly, but crying was utilized so often in the finale that it stopped feeling impactful. And the whole “you’re the best thing that ever happened to me” speech with ragatha and pomni was just kind of superficial feeling to me, and I’d even go as far to say fan service for the shippers. Like, it was a nice moment but the dialogue was just so off.

Also, I don’t like how Jax got so much screentime, only for him to have a rather unsatisfying ending. I don’t necessarily think he should’ve 100% been redeemed, but he didn’t even get confronted by the others. he just abstracted and turned into the family pet, without even giving an obvious explanation for what abstraction is. We got huge flashback scene explaining why he is how he is, only for none of it to really matter aside from explaining some of his issues. They set him up for something like “this character is a jerk, but now we know why he’s a jerk, so we can give him a chance for character development and possibly redemption”, but didnt actually go through with it.

Overall, id say the finale was mid at best. I didn’t really like it. 5/10, and thats really only because of the animation quality. It’s a great show that got screwed over by a rushed-feeling finale. The theatre I was in was only half full, and nobody so much as clapped at the end. Everyone seemed disappointed. everyone on YouTube is saying the exact opposite of their experiences in the theatre, and I don’t know if it’s because people on YouTube tend to be nicer, or if it’s a location based thing, but oh well.

Im open to debating this if anybody is curious.
