What’s going on at tcc this morning?

There’s a shit ton of people mulling around outside the TCC this morning. I didn’t see much from the bus as we went around other than a Roger’s tent on the east corner. Anyone know what’s up?

I would’ve stopped, but I had to take a poo in my loo so kept on a riding.

How do you find satisfaction and commitment to a dollar figure when buying?

Instead of “if I could just save a little more” or “well next year I’ll get a raise” or “the stock market’s been shit this year, next year my portfolio will do better”

How do you just commit and go for it?

My luggage has a face. Does yours?!

Osprey Daylite riding travel pro for anyone curious. Noticed for the first time while waiting for my LAS->YVR flight. Both bags at least two years old.

Mildly interesting. But could be more interesting if there’s a pattern with more people discovering faces on their luggage too.

Grocery store quality in Kamloops

The conversation at work brought to mind a very distant memory from when I was wee.

When I was young, my mom told me to always buy meats and produce from Save On Foods as opposed to Some of the other grocery stores in town. I’ve gone through most of life with that automatically engrained in my head and have always bought my groceries at Save On.

It came out at work this week. Apparently I’m the only one that’s ever thought that everyone else thinks the meat and produce at superstore and Walmart and FreshCo are just fine. They all agreed that Costco does seem to be top-tier, however. Of course, if you don’t eat them, they go bad because they come in such large amounts.

What are the thoughts from this group?

Prescription health

I think I’ve just learned something stupid and now kicking myself for not being aware earlier. I’ve got a number of issues the nurse at the walk in clinic described as “chronic”, meaning, from what I understand long term and serious. As an example, my longest running one is hypothyroidism. I had that as a kid. I get medication, take it, it lasts for a year or so, I get a supple of 2-3 months, then it renews and renews until the end of the year or however long. and then I don’t get any more coming. I think “oh great I’m off my meds”. So I’ve been in and out of the walk in clinic this month, and the last nurse told me I should still be taking this for X, that for Y, and the other for Z. Apparently the stuff I’ve got I should have never stopped taking.

Why do the meds stop coming, and how fucked am I for not regularly taking meds that end after so long, me not thinking twice about them, but I should keep taking them. I’m >50 now. How do I repair this damage? Can I get a double dose? Is there anything else I need to know about prescriptions and “chronic” diseases?

Has anyone else learned this later in life? Hoping I’m not the only one? And is there a resource available somewhere that discusses common less talked about medical advice so I can see what other gaps I’m missing?

Thank you.

Does anyone have any experience with Dr Alam in Kamloops? Seems my long wait for a family physician is over. Thank you!

Persistent sore throat - embarrassed

Not asking for medical advice. 50M.
Got sore throat in Mexico on the 13th.
Spread to my nose and ears on the 14th
Flew back the 15th
Slept all day may 16th
Contacted virtual health may 17th they said if persists after 3 days get into urgent care.
May 20 called urgent care got appointment may 21
They did bloodwork chest X-ray and prescribed amoxicillin 7 days. Apparently I have extremely low sodium. I do another blood test this Friday
I’m allergic to penicillin. Had a bad response to the meds. Throat closed up even more, developed hives everywhere. This didn’t cause until the end of my pills.
I got back into urgent care may 29th. Went to hospital. They treated the anflaxis. Chest infection pronounced gone.
I’m sitting here today still with a mother of a sore throat (left side), swollen glands on the outside of my throat, and a squishy, juicy, sore left ear. This is since May 13 now.

Kind of embarrassed to go back to urgent care for a third time.
Is it possible that because of the penicillin allergy that the amoxicillin didn’t actually do its job and I need another antibiotic? I know it’s bad to take too many antibiotics.
Or should I try home remedies? I’ve been taking Advil, then Tylenol, lozenges, salt water rinses, honey, hot showers/baths, nothing has made it go away, only temporary relief.

Would appreciate your thoughts. My throat and ear is killing me

Thank you! Going to try and sleep again.

Getting sick in MX?

I’m in Cancun right now. Iberostar Coral. Second time in MX. heading home Friday afternoon. I picked up a wicked sore throat yesterday. Last time I was here I got the sore throat too and it was super hard to breathe. Is this my body’s way of telling me Mexico is not for me? Hoping I’ll be well enough to go on the plane.
