This year I predict that they are going to take a lot off the waitlist because that's just what UW does, and more in state students than out of state by a lot. If anyone has heard back. Please let me know if you're in state, out of state, and what major or DTM! Because UW just takes a ton of people and places them on the pre-major route or general admit route.
I didn't even realize this until now because my dad volunteered to handle everything for FAFSA, but when I logged onto the portal I saw my SAI Index was -1470 and I had literally no clue what that was but I guess the FAFSA thinks we qualify for max financial aid because the scale goes from -1500 to like 9999999 , it even says I qualify for $7,300 in Fed Pell Grants.
I didn't even know this was my situation until I got an email from UCSC a school I am not attending and they said, "After a cursory review of your financial aid application information, you appear to demonstrate significant financial need and will likely be considered a non-resident for tuition purposes for the 2026-27 academic year. We are unable to fund financial need for non-residents with anything other than a small amount of student loan and a credit-based parent loan (for dependent students). "
I am wondering if I should take some action on this, if there is an error that I am not aware of could there be a punishment for me and my family? Or do I leave it as is?
