Super confused 😭

Where to apply early?

A. Brown ED + MIT EA

B. Yale REA

C. MIT EA + NotreDame REA

D. Stanford REA

E. Cornell ED + MIT EA

High stats FGLI international student

Perhaps I don't want a clear cut answer but an approach to find the solution.

PS: I think in the back of my mind, ik what should I do but I'm just super prestige-driven right now....

Just wanting to understand life

I completely get that love can be beautiful, and being with someone you are deeply attracted to is an incredible experience. But honestly, looking at the math, it just doesn’t seem worth it.There is a massively high chance that you will get cheated on, that they will lose interest, or that you will break up. It hurts like hell. Sometimes, you carry that damage for the rest of your life. And if you manage to stay together forever, eventually one of you dies, which is a grief worse than anything. Yet, due to societal responsibilities, people are forced to just move on and find someone else.If this is the inevitable cycle, why do we still fall in love? Why is it so damn complicated?Strictly from a logical standpoint, why didn't we just evolve to reproduce with random people, raise our kids, eat, sleep, and go about our lives without the emotional devastation? Humans have inhabited this planet for thousands of years, so why haven't we found a logical or psychological solution to this problem?

Why do I love him so muchhh 😭

Idk I just wanna vent.

He is literally the most squishy, cute, and kissable person on this planet. Everything about him makes my heart melt like butter.

His smile and lips are just so inviting and lovely. Every time I look at him, it makes me wanna start kissing him right then and there. I’m honestly so confuseddddd 😭. I have never seen a guy be this adorable in my entire life.

The crazy part is, my guy is actually insecure about how he looks. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here just begging to keep him in my life forever. I completely love how he treats me. He makes fun of me, adores me, and makes me feel so safe and special all at the same time.

I never knew to ask God for a guy like him, but I am asking now that he never, ever leaves. ❤️

FGLI international student facing a dilemma between Stanford REA and ED

I’m an FGLI international student, and I want to apply to Stanford REA.

However, my counselor is strongly pushing me to apply ED to a school like Cornell, Brown, Williams, or Rice. I genuinely like all of these universities and could see myself being very happy and fulfilled at any of them. The problem is that applying ED means making a binding commitment: if I’m accepted, I would be legally obligated to attend that university.

I only get one college application cycle, and I want to give myself the chance to apply to my dream school, even if that means potentially giving up an early acceptance at another excellent university. At the same time, I understand why my counselor is pushing back.

She has seen a pattern among international students at my school. Over the past two years, students were apparently admitted to strong U.S. universities primarily when they applied ED rather than REA/EA, while admissions through the regular round were much rarer. This makes sense to some extent given how difficult U.S. admissions are for international students. But there have also been exceptions, so the pattern isn't absolute. Idk what to say about my school situation (feeder or non-feeder). At max 8 students apply with decent SAT and decent grades and 3-4 get into ivies ED and sometimes RD with full-rides and others full-pay to T20s. No exception. (given 1500+sat, 3.9+gpa)

That puts me in a particularly risky position. If I choose Stanford REA, I could potentially lose the opportunity for an early acceptance elsewhere and end up with no U.S. university admission at all. On the other hand, if I choose ED, I would be giving up my chance to apply REA to Stanford, and if I get into my ED school, I would have to attend even if Stanford might ultimately have been an option.

I do have a reasonably fine option in my home country im happy attending. Because of that, I would also be okay with avoiding smaller LACs through ED if necessary. But I still don't want to make a decision that I might deeply regret simply because I was scared of taking a risk.

For additional context, the head boy and head girl from my grade also have Stanford REA as their dream option. They're obviously much more qualified than I am and have significantly more privilege and institutional support, which makes the situation feel even more intimidating.

So I'm stuck between the rational/safe choice and the choice that gives me a shot at the university I genuinely dream of attending. I'm very indecisive, and there's also an ongoing conflict with my counselors about this.

I don't want someone to simply tell me which option to choose. I'm trying to figure out how to handle this situation and make the best decision for myself, especially when the people advising me have more experience with this process but I ultimately have to live with the consequences of the decision.

TL;DR: I'm an FGLI international student choosing between:

A. Stanford REA

B. Cornell/Brown/Williams/Northwestern ED + MIT EA

My counselors strongly favor option B based on their experience with international applicants, while I strongly want to give myself a chance at Stanford. I'm looking for advice on how to approach and make this decision, rather than a direct answer about which option is better.

Guys, it's less than 45 days until NDA II, and I'm so out of place. I feel quite like a toddler here. I have no idea about the medical process and all. I feel it's going to become an issue sooner or later, even for my personal life and health.

Abhi se lock in kar loon for weight loss and getting healthier? Advice, please!!!! especially from people who've been through it and come out shining. Thanks!

i want work, not money

Hello everyone,

I am 19F from Jaipur.

My boyfriend is 5'7" and weighs under 40 kg. He is extremely malnourished and is currently preparing for a highly competitive exam, which he narrowly missed clearing last time. He's working incredibly hard, and I'm worried that in the middle of all this preparation, he'll neglect his health.

His family is struggling financially, so even buying basic calorie-dense foods like oats, peanut butter, or cashews is difficult for them. The total cost would only be around ₹300–400, but I'd really like to earn that amount myself instead of asking for donations.

If anyone has any small paid tasks, I'd be grateful for the opportunity. I can help with:

  • Video editing
  • Making PowerPoint presentations
  • Basic graphic design
  • Research or other small online tasks

I'm open to taking on multiple small jobs if needed. Every little bit helps, and it would go directly toward getting him some nutritious food while he focuses on his exam.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. 🙏

My activities section looks scattered and cohesive at the same time...

So, guys the thing is I was just finalising my common app activities section and notices I have a clear pattern through the list. They all connect to one motif and conecpt. But, they are inherently very dfferent. I am applying as a STEM major but activities correspond to arts, humanities, creative fields and strong community service. I am confused. Only 3-4 of the 8 activities are core engineering ECs, others are dufferent. Can somebody catch the call to this?
