Special character forms that we will probably never see again

Ash-Greninja (Pokemon) I’m pretty sure they retconned it in the anime, because in Journeys, Adh had a flashback to the fight with Ash-Greninja vs Alain, but instead it was regular Greninja. Ash also has completely been done away with in the anime, so theres that

False Super Saiyan Goku (Dragon Ball Z) Now I know that it made a cameo in a recent Sparking Zero update, but given that it was a brief cameo and not a playable form, and its a video game that can bring anything from the series back, I won’t count it. But False Super Saiyan is probably never coming back, even SSJ4 came back in a way, but theres no reason for this one to

Chun Li’s “Sorry!” taunt (Street Fighter 6)

Luigi’s down taunt (Super Smash Bros)

Greninja’s taunt (Super Smash Bros)

A character gets asked their name, so they sarcastically reply with an obviously fake name

TMNT 2012

The sweet and innocent character has an ability that is potentially terrifying

Eri (My Hero Academia) Her quirk is Rewind, It allows her to revert the biological state of a living body to a previous point in time. But If she loses control or overuses her power, she can accidentally rewind a person completely out of existence >!like her father!<

Alluka (Hunter x Hunter) Alluka's ability allows her to grant absolutely any wish but this power operates on a strict system of equivalent exchange based on the magnitude of the last wish granted. To receive a wish, a person must first fulfill three of Alluka's specific "requests," which can range from simple tasks to horrific demands. If someone refuses these requests four times, they and the people they love most will instantly die.

Super strong characters pretending to be bad at a contest to keep up a normal appearance

The Punching Machine scene in Dragon Ball Z. Though it barely worked because they still received higher than average scores after majorly nerfing their punches. But it’s the thought that counts, except for Vegeta who just destroys the thing

Ultimate Spider-Man, in the episode Why I Hate the Gym, Peter explains that he can’t excel on an obstacle course because it wouldn’t be fair and he has to keep up his appearance as Peter Parker, so he purposely does a pathetic job on the course

“Ok everyone in this roster is relatively normal… then theres just this weirdo freak of nature”

Faust (Guilty Gear) A crazy doctor who operates on cartoon physics and his special move is either a thousand years of death from Naruto, or ramming a wheelchair into your shin

Voldo (SoulCaliber) A bdsm themed weirdo guy with an unpredictable fighting style who crawls and flips around and idk even know how to explain him

Blanka (Street Fighter) The OG fighting game weirdo, A green man beast that has electricity powers and attacks people by rolling into a ball like sonic. The rest of the roster humans who punch and kick and can shoot projectiles

The guest character fits into the world so well that they barely even feel like guest characters

Mai and Terry from Fatal Fury in Street Fighter 6 - I honestly forget that they aren’t Street Fighter characters half the time, they fit so well into the game and they have had two crossovers with their companies before, they were meant to crossover.

Baiken from Guilty in Samurai Showdown - I mean Baiken is a samurai from a fighting game who uses mostly grounded attacks in a world full of magical characters. She fits the theme of the game so well

A strong character underestimates their own strength (bonus if they are visibly shocked by the result)

Peter slapping Flash (Spider-Man Far From Home)

Goku throwing Chi-Chi on accident (Dragon Ball Z)

Invincible beats Agstrom to a pulp (Invincible)

The MC(s) gets overconfident and cocky, so they get a huge reality check

Ash (Pokemon XY) He was one a huge win streak and felt unstoppable in his Pokemon Battles, until Wulfric, the Ice Gym Leader beat him so bad that he got depressed and almost quit battling

The Turtles (TMNT) They kicked the butts of a lot of their enemies in the past episodes and they thought they were just that good, until they run into Shredder for the first time and he solos them easily, they barely escaped with their lives

Characters who use weapons that you don’t see very often

Mitsuri Kanroji (Demon Slayer) She uses a cartoonishly stylized version of an Urumi, a whip-like sword from India

Shenhua (Black Lagoon) She wields dual Kukris, knifves originating from Nepal

Fishface (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012) He uses a butterfly knife, which is surprisingly not as common in media that isn’t video games

Crossovers refrencing mechanics from the game of the character they are crossing over with

Super Smash Bros, Steve can mine, build and craft, just like in Minecraft. Also Kazuya, his throw animation has a unique camera angle change just like they do in Tekken games. No other character’s camera angle changes when they throw people

Guilty Gear Strive - Lucy From Cyberpunk has a quickhack special move with a UI that literally freezes the match so you can implement hacks onto your opponent, just like how you can do that in Cyberpunk 2077

A kid admits that they did something bad, only for a parent to actually be intrigued about it instead of angered

The Incredibles - when Dash was sent to the principals office for using his speed to put a tack on his teacher’s chair, he told his dad about it and he was more intrigued than angry like Helen

Buddy Daddies - Miri got in a “fight” and while Kazuki was worried, Rei was more interested in if she won or not

A former legend realizes that they are washed now

Batman (Batman Beyond) He was getting thrashed in a fight against a thug so bad that he almost resorted to using a gun just so he could survive. It was at that moment he realized he was done being Batman

Lightning Mcqueen (Cars 3) “Hey Mcqueen? Listen, don’t you worry pal, you had a good run, enjoy your retirement!” All the newgen cars are literally built different and he later learns that he is just too old

Infamously low tier characters in games

Lily Hawk (Street Fighter 6) She is constantly regarded as the worst character in the game and Capcom refuses to buff her. In simple terms, her gameplay is very linear and predictable because she relies in her stocks to do any real damage, she’s fun in low level games, but high level players never touch her

Roll (Marvel vs Capcom) She is infamously the worst character in the game, so bad that she as her own tier in a lot of lists. She’s just Megaman but worse, she does less damage, has a shorter jump and a smaller hitbox and fragile defense

Black Widow (Marvel Rivals) She is really hard to use for beginners and requires a lot of skill, plus she doesn’t do much damage and she’s not really a good pick for the team. She has been doing better with updates, but she was still pretty bad before

Characters not allowed to be in relationships for whatever reason

The women of Street Fighter - I have Chun-Li since she’s the poster girl but it’s really every female character in the game. It’s made especially egregious when the male characters are all in relationships, Ken, Guile, Dhalsim, Alex (oh no…) Hakan, Necro and even Rufus are all in relationships but none of the female characters unless you want to count Juli, who was only playable as a secret character in Alpha 3 who is with T. Hawk. But the girls are all single, Chun-Li is a single mom, C. Viper is a single Mom all the girls are lone wolves.

Zenless Zone Zero characters - I’m pretty sure it’s the entire cast unless I’m missing a few, but none of them are in relationships I believe. And I’m pretty sure its to have an “open” dynamic with the player character, in other words, they’re keeping the attractive characters single so it won’t potentially turn off people who want to headcanon other characters or themselves with them. Especially when people spend money to get these characters

One Piece - There is very little romance in One Piece because the author as explicitly stated that he doesn’t do romance since it’s not something target audience of the series (Teen boys) cares about. You’ll have characters like Sanji flirt, but it’s nothing beyond that

Counterparts of the main characters who are NOT evil

The Cool Kids Sour Cream/Pearl, Buck Dewey/Garnet and Jenny Pizza/Amethyst (Steven Universe) For those unfamiliar, they are clearly parallels to the Crystal Gems, they have similar personalities as the Gems and Sour Cream and Buck literally look Pearl and Garnet

Fiona and Cake (Adventure Time) Counterparts to Finn and Jake
