Red beans & rice

The beans were simmered simply with onions, too much garlic, carrots, green beans, & smoked turkey legs. Once the beans finished I fished out the turkey and pulled the meat then added it back. The rice is simmered with chicken bullion.

Rice & beans has to be my favorite dinner. I grew up eating variations of this meal so it's very satisfying to continue the tradition in my way.

Today I did not want spice but I usually add jalapenos or at least cayenne pepper.

Grilled Tri-tip, Mexican rice, grilled onions, and a little black bean & avocado salad.

I love grilling Tri-tip. Cool side until it hits 125-130 then hot side until it's brown and delicious. This one had a hell of a grey band but it was still juicy and tender. Turned it into a rice bowl with pretty basic Mexican rice and an avocado & black bean salad. I drizzled on some cilantro lime crema and called it a meal.

Got a new kitten and our adult is having trouble

40 USA

Tldr; new kitten is ready to explore but adult cat is super anxious. They are separated but wondering if introducing them will help or hinder.

We have the new kitten and she is sequestered in a room. We got her on Saturday and our adult cat is super nervous. He's barely eating, plays reluctantly, looks very anxious when he hears her playing for hollering. They are aware of each other but we've done our best to keep her isolated.

The kitten is doing great. She's ready to explore. She's only been here a few days but she's eating, pooping, and playing like a champ. My question is; should we introduce them? It's only been a few days but will it help our adult cat if we just let them meet or should we wait for him to acclimate?

Baby gate meeting is out. She's a great jumper and there isn't a baby gate high enough to keep her in that room. Short of installing a screen door, it's all or nothing. We brought out a toy with her scent on it in the hope that he will get used to her smells but he is still quite nervous.

We are using those pheromone plug ins and they seem to help a bit but not a ton. Our adult boy is my first cat so this is my first time introducing a kitten to an existing cat. Trying to do it "by the book" but life is wild. Any advice is welcome.

Thank you!

Grilled Pork Ribs and potato salad served in little lettuce boats!

The ribs were a simple affair; seasoned with just salt & pepper and grilled on a Weber Kettle Grill at around 315 - 330 for about an hour and a half until tender then sauced and grilled with the vents wide open for 25 minutes to set the glaze.

The potato salad was a new one for me. Standard mustard based pot-sal but I plated it in little butter leaf lettuce leaves to make it a finger food. Tremendous success!
