He died last night in my arms. He was vomiting the night before and I thought it was just a normal sickness and took him to the vet. They told me he will be fine and gave him some IV. I am struggling to accept his passing. It felt like he will wake up just fine the next day for his second visit to the vet. He was my first pet. We did everything together. I would wake up at the same time, in the same bed, cuddling. I would take naps together, talk sometimes and cuddle all day. It feels so surreal not having him around. The routine we build is completely gone. I woke up this morning crying because I knew he isn’t waiting for me to wake up to feed him, cuddle with him. How do you get better ? Does the pain ever stop? I feel guilty when I try to distract myself because I feel like I won’t be doing him justice. He was my comfort, my source of encouragement and the one who waited for me everyday to come home to. My room feels so empty without him, I keep calling out his names hoping it’s just a dream, hoping he’s there, laying on my feet snoring or following me around the house. I don’t think I will ever get over his death. He was the best dog I could have asked for.
