Serious Question

What happens if we all decide to NOT tip anymore?

As I evaluate my experiences in the USA vs Europe.. tipping is all guilt based. Even when I travel abroad to countries where tipping is not the norm.. servers hunt American tourist and throw a tip screen.

We will never see these people again.. so why are we being generous with our money? They might get mad, but why should we care? Why do we owe the business anything when capitalism greed is at an all-time high now? The “support local business” mentality is dead to me because most businesses are weaponizing the system (inflation, tip culture, economy) and hurting the communities they serve.

Corporations have proven they can get away with shrinkflation and consumers cannot do anything.. so why are we feeding the system to give them more profits by willingly tipping for the cost of doing basic business.

🚩Paying by card is a convenience for the BUSINESS, and yet we’re penalized and charged extra for using cards?

🚩They charge a fee for take out orders? The price to make and package the food is literally the business!!

🚩They want a tip for taking my order and bringing the order.. so literally the business!!

If we refuse to tip, then restaurants will find creative ways to add extra fees into our bills.. but after a while the word “tip” will be meaningless because we start to give value to the total cost (food + junk fees) instead of worrying about the extra surcharge we all pay out of guilt (food + junk fees + TIP). Do you think this will work?

Which do you really prefer:

A) tip screens
B) total bill without tip screen

Apple TV needs Netflix - 3 Month Review

Hi, I’m new to Apple TV+ and have been using the subscription for almost 3 months now.. here’s what I noticed:

First, the Apple TV Originals have all been outstanding.. many TV shows and movies cast A-list celebrities which makes for an interesting watch. The shows are all well produced but do not go too extreme in their genre.. I noticed them to be somewhat family friendly or carefully made to not offend people/topics. You can tell that a lot of thought went into each show. They also tend to blend a bit in their design style.. you notice this immediately in the posters.. they all have an “Apple” aesthetic.

The Apple TV catalog is very small compared to Netflix, but 8 out of 10 shows I watch on Apple TV are actually pretty good. To get similar results on Netflix I would have to rely mostly on Top 10 or their popularity to find decent shows/movies because Netflix produces so much that not all are real hits. I have an easier time finding shows I enjoy on Apple TV.. we’ll see how well that holds as I continue to watch more and more shows :)

Apple TV needs Netflix because their dashboard is annoying.. and they need to fix this ASAP:

  1. Each episode starts with a promo to another random TV Show.. Ted Lasso can fuck off!! I’m tired of seeing ads to this show.. and sometimes the show will auto play next after you finish a series/movie.. like WHAT. If I wanted to see it. I would and you forcing me to watch it is not helping.

  2. You can favorite TV shows/movies but they disappear after you completely watch it.. and only reappear in your watchlist if they release a new episode. This sucks because I want to keep track of the shows/movies I like..

  3. You cannot rate TV Shows/Movies.. but Apple still recommends shows based on what you watch.. they assume I LOVED everything I watched? 😬 There is a difference between liked and LOVED but I cannot tell Apple TV that lol

  4. You cannot see the number of episodes/seasons remaining while watching a show.. you can only continue to watch blindly until you complete the series. What I do is Google the series to figure out how many episodes are left or how many seasons were made. So I need to exit Apple TV to get this info. You only get this info when you first start the show.. once you click to watch that layout changes and the only info you get is current episodes. There is no option to skip around or scroll through the episodes or seasons after you start.

  5. The skip recap button will literally skip critical parts of the episode. It’s not always reliable so I just keep hitting fast forward 10 seconds until I can start the episode properly.

  6. watch history.. this info is hidden to users and only Apple has access to the history of shows you watched.

  7. you need to scroll to see the full catalog but sometimes when I reach the end… the bar keeps loading and I could never see the other categories: For You, Coming to Apple TV, etc. I think this is based on luck because it doesn’t always load when I want it to work and is a HUGE issue if they want me to keep watching lol.

  8. Shows will auto play so fast that you barely have time to react.. so when a show starts to play it gets added to your “watchlist” so it just messes up the whole list because if you don’t actually want to watch it why have it on that list? I have to manually remove them and guess what.. they get re-added again the next time it happens. I know they want me to keep watching new shows after I finish one.. but this is not the way. No gimmick will ever make me watch something I don’t like or have time for.

All of these issues are fixed in Netflix.. users already like this way of streaming shows so why did Apple TV messed them up?

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with anything I said?

First Time vs Mickey's Christmas Party

Hi, Visiting Magic Kingdom has been a childhood dream of mine, and I'm finally planning my trip this November as an adult with no kids 💃🕺

I bought Two Day park tickets PLUS the MK Christmas Party ticket, so I'm trying to decide what to do.

Day Two will be Hollywood Studios.

Day One is for Magic Kingdom

Is the Christmas Party alone enough for a first-time visitor, OR should I also use one of my regular park tickets to visit Magic Kingdom during the day, leave for a break and then come back for the party after 4:00 p.m?

⁉️What should i do on DAY ONE:

Option A: Do Animal Kingdom (day) + MK Christmas Party (night)?

OR

Option B: Do Magic Kingdom (day) + MK Christmas Party (night)?

My wishlist is simple for Magic Kingdom:

⚪️ Get on thrill rides and the iconic attractions
⚪️ See Cinderella Castle during the day for photos
⚪️ Watch fireworks
⚪️ See the Main Street parade
⚪️Get clear photos/videos on phone

I've read that ride wait times are much shorter during the party, but I'm worried I'll miss the daytime atmosphere and won't get many good photos/videos since it'll be dark for most of the party. Also, many of the rides during the dark are different and won’t be a true “experience” like the Mad Tea party ride at night just sounds weird. I’ve always seen videos of this ride during the day.. which looks beautiful but at night ?!?

If this was your first-ever visit to Magic Kingdom, would you just do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, or spend the day in Magic Kingdom and then stay for the party at night?

I'd love to hear what you'd recommend, especially from people who've done both

Thanks!!

Birthday Celebration at EDC Orlando Question

Hi, I am planning to celebrate my birthday at EDC Orlando this year and I need your advice.

I hope to get a single day ticket, so if my birthday is on Saturday.. should I get the ticket for Saturday or Friday (to start my birthday at midnight)? OR should I not worry about my actual birthday and just focus on the lineup, even if it means getting a Sunday ticket. What makes more sense?

I’ve been to EDC Las Vegas and LOVED it, but this will be my first EDC Orlando and I’m not sure what to expect. If I were celebrating at EDC Las Vegas I would easily pick Friday, so I can stay past midnight on my birthday, but EDC Orlando ends much earlier. Does everything really shutdown at midnight? 😬

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: I realized that I can be anywhere on my birthday and still feel special.. have fun, etc.. so i’m getting a single day ticket based on the lineup schedule and not my specific birthday. While the lineup is GOOD and I want to go all three days, I don’t want to make my trip too long (still undecided). I’m hoping to use the extra days to hit some theme parks. Thank you everyone for your comments!!
