I saw this cool music artist on tiktok, thought they sounded similar to Jack stauber, they even said they were inspired by Jack himself

I don't know if the flair is tagged correctly, but I just HATE how the Obelisk is just turned into generic jumpscare slop. I know the Obelisk is not pretty new and so are the videos, but I just can't stop thinking about it. I just rewatched the Obelisk quite recently and was deeply upset seeing minecraft mods and roblox games turning the Obelisk, a complex creature that's not quite hostile (its never really shown attacking you in the series), into a generic evil horror monster that kills you.

There's nothing inherently wrong about parodying media. But it just feels wrong when thats essentially the only way people engage with it.

The original work is genuinely so complex, it has ambiguity, grief, memory, childhood, deterioration, loneliness, characters that aren't simply just "victims" or creatures that aren't just "predators", it's a genuinely beautiful analog horror that tackles the themes well. I found the symbolism and connections written really well honestly.

But on yt shorts / tiktok / anywhere really, creatures in the show become nothing more than just generic creatures that murder, when so much of what makes them disturbing is what they represent. The empty spaces, distorted environments, strange characters, and the creatures aren't frightening simply because they look unsettling, they're frightening because they're tied to ideas about people disappearing, memories deteriorating, refusing to let go, and trying to preserve something that cannot truly be preserved. When all of that gets stripped away and turned into “Obelisk monster minecraft mod try to hide" or anything among those lines, it feels like watching something meaningful get reduced to its most superficial feature.

This isn't unique to the Obelisk too, many media's experience this same problem.

I'll go first :

It is such a unique concept, I know it stems from Swapsaken but I like how they expanded everything else, the game is genuinely so fun and has insane lore potential

In creative writing class we were asked to create a poem about ourselves so I wrote a poem under the title of "Imperfect Perfectionist" which was me talking about my experience back then, I used to be a Perfectionist and got mad whenever something was wrong, I took up art class prior but I wasn't really great at drawing back then so I usually would get mad if something wasn't perfect. Looking back at it, I now realize maybe everything doesn't have to be perfect. What would best incorporate this design on here ?

On the left there's things that are like "Perfect", straight lines, shapes, etc, and on the right it's more free, imperfect, flawed but still beautiful. I also added The Evil Teddy bear and the Crying Minotaur from Radiohead because I see Radiohesd as a symbol of beautiful imperfections in a way.

Is there a way to make this better ? I feel like it's genuinely lacking so bad, and looks ass.

I may just be not observant enough, but how did this guy die in the basement ? He doesn't have any visible wounds on him, I thought he was a civilian we needed to escort in the map or something, after I found out he was dead I kept replaying the map in my private server because blood textures migtve not loaded in, but there was never any.

His expression loos scared, made me think he was alive, and there wasn't any tools to cause his death, so how'd he die ?

Found out Chronos was based off the Hubble space telescope (because the original teapot turret had it for some reason) so I turned Chronos.. abit different.

Chronos is now the James Webb telescope.
