Review of the Firebat F1 mini‑PC: bug fixes or a downgrade?

A solid mid-range option for everyday use. That’s roughly how the Firebat F1 mini PC feels. There’s plenty to praise, and plenty to criticize. But overall, if you understand what this configuration is for, then why not?

The Firebat F1 made a fairly positive impression overall. Although the Ryzen 5 7640HS platform is no longer new, it still offers ample performance with a comfortable margin for most daily tasks. With six cores and twelve threads, a respectable Radeon 760M, and reasonably fast memory, this mini-PC proves to be a highly adaptable solution for both home and office use. Additional highlights include a robust selection of ports, the option to add a second SSD, and consistent performance without any glaring shortcomings in benchmark tests. It's worth noting that the soldered memory limits upgrade potential, so it's advisable to select the desired RAM capacity upfront. The bundled SSD isn't particularly outstanding, but its speed is more than adequate for typical usage. Ultimately, the Firebat F1 emerges as the quintessential middle-of-the-road option I referenced earlier. It doesn't boast any groundbreaking features, nor does it suffer from any major flaws. For those in need of a compact computer for web browsing, document work, media consumption, general tasks, and the occasional undemanding game, the Firebat F1 holds its own quite well. Particularly if you can snag it at a favorable price.

I just received an unreleased Cubot KingKong Dura. It has something I haven't seen on a modern smartphone in years.

First look at the upcoming Cubot KingKong Dura.

Unisoc T620, 6.88" 120 Hz display, Android 16, and a removable 5000 mAh battery. Nice to see this feature making a comeback.

I tested a pre-production Intel Lunar Lake mini PC for a few hours

I had a chance to spend a couple of hours with a pre-production Ninkear L20 before it was sent back.

This isn't a full review yet, but I managed to run a few benchmarks and take some photos.

The L20 is based on Intel's Lunar Lake platform with the Core Ultra 5 226V processor (4P + 4LP / 8 threads), Intel Arc 130V graphics and a 40 TOPS NPU for Copilot+ AI features.

The sample I tested came with 16 GB LPDDR5X memory and a 512 GB PCIe SSD.

Connectivity includes USB4, DisplayPort, HDMI, 2.5GbE LAN, multiple USB ports and a compact metal chassis measuring just 128 × 128 mm.

During my short hands-on the system felt responsive, stayed quiet during normal use and performed as expected for a compact Lunar Lake mini PC.

Some quick benchmark results: Cinebench 2026: 438 single / 2126 multi. PassMark CPU: 19,784. СrystalDiskMark: 1778 MB/s read / 1397 MB/s write

I'll publish a more detailed review if I get another unit.

I found this wild FIREBAT F1 cooling mod on a Russian forum

Found what might be the ultimate cooling mod for the FIREBAT F1 on the Russian 4PDA forum. It looks like Frankenstein's mini PC, but I bet it runs very cool now. And with the little wheels... it's basically a Mac Pro.

10 months with Lenovo Lecoo Pro14. Why has this laptop suddenly become my main work tool?

Almost a year ago, I borrowed a Lenovo Lecoo Pro14 for a couple of weeks to do a routine review. Spoiler alert: He's still with me. We're figuring out how this laptop could become my main device, what pitfalls came out in 10 months of work, and who it would definitely suit.

Probably, it was after 10 months of use that we can no longer talk about first impressions, but about how successful the laptop turned out to be for me personally. And in short, I don't want to change it at all yet. The screen leaves the strongest impression. It has become one of the main reasons why I continue to use this laptop every day. The matrix here is really great: high definition, 120 Hz, good color reproduction and matte finish. I regularly edit photos, write articles, edit YouTube videos, and just spend a lot of time in front of the screen. During all this time, I have never had the desire to say "oh, I wish there was a better display here."

The second point is autonomy. During normal work, 4-5 hours are enough for me, and without any attempts to save the charge. And there is a feeling that with a calmer load, the laptop is able to work even longer. If I understand that the day is going to be long, I just take a compact charger or a power bank with Power Delivery support - both USB Type-C allow you to charge your laptop without problems. And sometimes I even leave home for a whole day without a charger and don't worry that the battery will run out at the most inopportune moment. So good autonomy has long been more than just a MacBook story.

I would like to mention the sound separately. Of course, this is not a substitute for good acoustics, but the built-in speakers pleasantly surprised. They are quite loud, and the sound does not feel completely flat - even a small volume is present. I don't need anything else to watch YouTube, movies, or background music.

Performance is also in order. I practically don't run games on laptops, so I use the built-in Radeon 780M mainly as a nice bonus. But as a working tool, Lecoo Pro 14 completely covers my tasks. Video editing, photo processing, dozens of browser tabs, working with neural networks, texts and various content - I have plenty of Ryzen 7 H255 power and 32 GB of RAM. Even when I bought it, I quite consciously chose the 14-inch model. For me, this size turned out to be almost perfect. It is convenient to work with a laptop not only at the table, but also sitting on the couch, in an armchair, on the balcony or on the road. It is compact enough not to get in the way, and at the same time the screen remains comfortable to work with. The weight of about 1.45 kg also turned out to be far from a trifle. I fly on business trips several times a year, I always carry my laptop in my backpack, and every extra gram there starts to feel very fast. Here, a laptop does not turn a backpack into a kettlebell, so you can easily take it with you almost automatically, without even thinking.

It is from such small things that the overall impression gradually develops. Ten months later, I no longer look at the characteristics and results of benchmarks. I just open the lid every day, work, and close it in the evening. And, perhaps, this is what best speaks to how successful this laptop turned out to be for me.

Conclusion

Over the past ten months, the Lecoo Pro 14 has stopped being just a test laptop for me and has become my main work computer at home. And, probably, this is the best rating that can be given to the device. It's not perfect - the fingerprint sensor is sometimes cranky, and the processor can heat up well under heavy load. But in real life, all this does not prevent you from enjoying your work. Instead, the laptop offers a great screen, decent autonomy, high performance, high-quality sound, light weight and compact size. That's why it's convenient to take it with you on trips, to work at home at a desk, on the couch or somewhere on the road. If you need a modern 14-inch laptop without discrete graphics, but with a really powerful processor, a good screen and the possibility of further upgrades, then the Lecoo Pro 14 definitely deserves attention. Personally, after ten months of use, I have never regretted my choice. Well, after the review, I thought. Now I probably wouldn't save money, and I already ordered a Lenovo Xiaoxin 14 Pro for myself. Everything is very similar in terms of the filling, but the screen is already OLED, which will probably be more pleasant. Although the Lecoo Pro14 screen is also good, but it's IPS. In general, to whom what is more important. And yes, there is also a burly laptop with a 16-inch screen, but in this case compactness is lost. It's important to me.

Doogee S200 Ultra Smartphone Review: two screens again! But 1TB of memory

The Doogee S200 Ultra turned out to be a very controversial smartphone. On the one hand, this is a typical security guard with a huge battery, a lot of weight and a brutal appearance. On the other hand, the manufacturer tried to add personality to it: a second screen, RGB backlight, 1 TB of internal memory, and even a night vision camera.

And the most interesting thing is that some of these chips actually work. The second screen seems like a toy at first, but after a few days you suddenly start using it as a watch or camera control screen. Night vision also turned out to be not marketing, but a fully operational function that really helps to shoot in complete darkness.

But the cameras in normal mode are not so impressive anymore. They shoot quite well during the day, but the sharpness drops noticeably at the edges of the frame, noise reduction is active at night, and the front camera is too fond of smoothing the image. Video has also not become a strong point of the smartphone.

But performance, autonomy and memory capacity do not raise any questions at all. The Dimensity 7400 can easily handle any daily tasks, the battery lasts for a very long time, and 1 TB of built-in storage will allow you not to think about free space for a long time.

The result is a smartphone with its own character. It doesn't try to be a universal flagship and doesn't impress with the quality of the cameras. But if you need the most autonomous, unusual and really protected device with good hardware and a couple of non-standard features, then the Doogee S200 Ultra is quite capable of interest.

I got my hands on a pre-release Lunar Lake mini PC from a Chinese manufacturer Ninkear. Here are some photos and first impressions

Early engineering sample of the upcoming Ninkear M8_226V mini PC.
Powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 226V (Lunar Lake) with Intel Arc 130V graphics and a 40 TOPS NPU.
The unit is surprisingly compact (128×128 mm, about 675 g) while still offering USB4, OCuLink and 2.5GbE networking.
These are just my first hands-on photos before I start testing it.

Bought the XP-Pen Artist 16 3rd for my 12-year-old daughter to learn digital drawing. Our first impressions

Hi everyone. I recently bought the XP-Pen Artist 16 3rd for my 11-year-old daughter, who wants to learn digital drawing. Since this model is still pretty new, I noticed there isn’t much real-world content about it yet. We decided to test it together and draw a funny little TV Head Guy character. Nothing professiona, just a simple real-life drawing session to see how comfortable the tablet feels, how the pen performs, and what the overall experience is like for a beginner.

I also made a short video showing the drawing process and our first impressions. Not a professional review, just a casual look at how it works in real use.

Would love to hear from people already using XP-Pen tablets, especially if you have experience with this model.

Samsung Wallet just showed me an ad notification on my S24 Ultra. Is this normal now?

Yesterday my S24 Ultra suddenly pushed an ad through Samsung Wallet. Not a system notification. Not an update. An actual beauty product promo with coupons. I paid flagship money for this phone (around $1500 where I live), and honestly this feels… weird. I expect ads in free apps, not in a premium device ecosystem.

Is this region-specific? I’m in Hong Kong / China region with CMHK. Or did Samsung quietly decide ads are acceptable now?
