i got a 4 on the ap test

im so disappointed myself ngl… im trying to not let it get to myself but the fact i studied so much, i got straight 100s on most of my tests, i thiught i did really well in the class as a whole as well as the actual ap test just to get a 4 is lowkey so devastating. the fact im aining to go into astrophysics, overall a stem major, im just so aad and discouraged lowkey.

i also got two 4s out of the 5 tests i took which is just like embarrassing for myself and all😓

college advice

i just graduated from a high school in the U.S, and i was planning to go to Japan for college (physics major). because of the different yearly schedules between the U.S. and Japan, i do not know where i am going for college yet. i was going to take entrance exams in Japan this fall and start college in April 2027. i am currently residing in Japan to study for the entrance exams, but i am starting to have doubts about my decision.

considering i want to go overseas for grad school + career, going to Japan for undergrad would not be beneficial and not weighted as heavily as if i were to go to U.S. colleges. other things including societal expectations, level of rigor, etc is making me change my mind about going to Japan for undergrad.

the thing is, i am so incredibly scared of telling my parents about it. i know it may seem insignificant when thinking about how this decision will affect my whole entire future. but when i first talked to them about how i was thinking of maybe going to U.S. colleges, they kind of downplayed my emotions almost and said "if you already have gone so far to studying for your Japanese entrance exams, just try it" and "what a waste of time it would be", "there's no guarantee that you'll get into those U.S. colleges anyways because you haven't done anything yet during this break", "are you just going to make your future even more uncertain", etc.

my question is, how do i tell them that i am leaning towards going to U.S. colleges now? if i were to change my mind and apply to U.S. colleges, i would apply for fall 2027 admissions and all that. if i was financially stable and can handle all the application fees, rent, and all of that by myself, i wouldn't even be that stressed about telling my parents about it. i was going to mention to them that i am applying for jobs right now and will earn money whilst doing the college applications so i am not financially reliant on them.

i know that the reasons they're saying everything is because they want me to be the perfect oldest Asian sibling who has all their things put together and follows their ideal view of a child. i hate the fact that i don't have any specific plan for my future, just as same as my parents feel. it was so difficult putting my thoughts into words like this and thinking about telling my parents about this makes me so scared.

japan as an undergrad or grad?

i am a native japanese citizen/speaker and have been living in the u.s. for 10 years. i just finished high school in the u.s., and i want to apply to undergrad as a returnee student in japan, but i do not know whether it would be more beneficial to go to school there for my undergrad or for my graduate/masters, or even for my PhD. does anyone have experience that they can discuss this upon or anything like that? if i do not go there for undergrad, i might apply to u.s universities or go to a california community college (ccc).

i want to major in astrophysics/physics for college and go into some sort of research in the future.

i'm so lost on my future

i just graduated from high school and was getting ready to apply to Japanese universities as a physics major, since that is what i've been wanting to do for the past few years. i have been studying for their entrance exams as well, and since i am a returnee student to japan (i am a japanese citizen living in the us for 10 years now), i have to relearn and study up to a Japanese high-school-equivalent level of physics and math in order to even have a chance of getting in.

but recently, i don't know what to do anymore, everyone in my grade has gotten into their own colleges, and i feel so stuck, lost, and hopeless about my future. i'm doubting myself of if i can even get into college in japan and whether i would be happy there, not to mention the long hours of studying i would have to do just to catch up with my classmates.

it's also the fact my parents are partially against me taking a gap year (or at least when i casually brought it up) and i don't know how to bring it up to them, just like "oh i want to give up on going to japan and i want to take a gap year and reapply to colleges in the us"?? it also doesn't help that i cannot stay in the us because 1. my whole family is moving to japan this summer (i would have to move back and do everything there) 2. i don't have enough money to rent a house or anything in case i want to stay in the us 3. i only have my us permit and not my license. it feels like i set up my whole life around applying to japanese unversities and now all the money that my parents spent on getting me my jpn classes and all the time that went into studying and trying to figure everything out is going to waste.

i applied to a couple of ucs and got into ucsc and uci, both admissions which i declined, i got rejected from berkeley, and i got waitlisted at ucla. i just regret so much that i didn't apply to more colleges because i thought i was so committed to going to japan, but as soon as i got waitlisted at ucla, my mind started changing and now all i'm hoping is that i get into ucla and i can just go there. but the waitlist has not been moving for physical sciences at all and i just don't know anything anymore.

any advice or any personal experiences would be appreciated. i know this is only the beginning of my life but it feels so heavy regardless.
