People camping out when a new store opens why?

I don’t know if it is just me, but I have always found it very bizarre when a new shop opens somewhere in a town/city. An example in the metro centre in Gateshead Sephora opened and people brought sleeping bags and camped out on the floor queueing to be the first ones in. I have never really understood the hype of being the first one in anywhere or camping out on the streets or in shopping malls to get into a certain shop. Is it just me? I just never really understood why people go to those lengths.

Abuse against retail workers and anyone working with the general public.

I have noticed alot since the pandemic that people have lost the social ability and how to speak to people properly. Since the pandemic working in retail or any job that requires working with the public, has gotten worst as years have passed, and the amount of verbal and physical abuse towards staff members is inhumane. People who come into a store or any establishment have lost their ability and common sense to communicate to people politely and properly, and take our their frustrations out on them because they are miserable themselves, and think that is an acceptable way to behave and speak to people. Not only that but their children follow in those footsteps and think that is the way to behave because their parents are doing it. Working in retail and any public facing role is not for the weak, and you really get an insight to how dumb and selfish people are, and they seem to take a godly attitude because they are the paying customer, when infact employees can refuse service and don’t have to deal with spending with sociopathic, narcissistic, psychopath customers. And the elderly or boomers seem to think because they are one foot in the grave that that because they didn’t get what they want, to stamp their feet and project stupid statements will do the trick for help. And not only that but when the children’s holidays come around parents struggle how to entertain their little darlings, and instead they make wherever they go and the people who work where they go, a living hell, because they cannot control their own offspring and lack paternal control and think the correct way to teach them is “gentle parenting” instead of teaching them boundaries and basic manners, but unfortunately that is too much to do and ask, and instead they turn into spoiled brats and out of control wherever they go. The summer holidays to work with the public is a living hell, and you see and realise how much of a nuisance they are and being rude is a common trait, and being nice is non existent. And they wonder why people leave their retail jobs because it’s always unstaffed you feel underpaid undervalued and burned out.

If you are experiencing any hassle at work from your manager or contract hours anything i highly recommend joining USDAW union for the extra back up and support and help.

Also another is retail trust where you can access advise but also counselling if you are really struggling with your mental health which is becoming more common there is help there for you, especially during these difficult times.
