Calgary - today is the last day for you to sign the Water Not Coal petition

You may have seen in the news that we hit our number. We did - but we're not done yet, and every signature still counts toward the final total we hand in tomorrow.

I'm currently driving north but you can still sign in Calgary today and someone will drive the sheets up to Edmonton tonight:

  • Out Fly Fishing (9919 Fairmount Dr SW #109): 10:30am to 6pm
  • Pin Bar (501 17 Ave SW): 6 to 8:30pm

If you've already signed, the best thing you can do now is tell a friend.

Thanks for all the support - we couldn't have done this without you. We'll do a proper debrief once the dust settles and I've had a nap.

Corb Lund here. Our Water Not Coal Petition has 2 weeks left. Please sign & tell your friends. I'm in Edmonton Thurs->Sun - come say hi & sign. Also, I lived in Edmonton for 25 years and miss it - AMA!

Hey Reddit, thanks for all your support.

We have two more weeks to gather all the signatures we can to make sure we push this thing over the line. We think we're looking good but we're concerned because we won't know the actual number of signatures till we get all our sheets in the end. So we're going to just push push push to the end.

If you've signed already, please tell ten of your friends cuz not everyone knows about it yet. Ask them to go to:

https://sign.waternotcoal.ca

and press the big blue button that says Find a place to sign. It'll show locations in your area where you can give us your signature. Bring your ID!

Also, my band is playing in Edmonton and we're going to have canvassing stations set up from 2-8pm at the venues - I'll be personally collecting signatures from 2-4pm:

May 28-31. Edmonton @ Starlite

Thanks for your support in defending our water against ruthless foreign coal mining companies and a complicit, possibly crooked government.

If you haven't heard about the petition, please check out our site - and here's more information from my 2 AMAs:

https://www.reddit.com/r/alberta/comments/1t3urrd/corb_lund_here_im_back_in_alberta_and_rallying/

---

Related: those AMAs were fun and I said I'd do an Edmonton one so talk to you Thursday at 11am.

I lived in Edmonton for 25 years and took music at Grant MacEwan so it's been a very formative part of my life and career. See you tomorrrow - AMA!

Corb Lund here - I'm in Edmonton this weekend for Water Not Coal - come say hi and sign

Hey folks.

Had meant to do an r/Edmonton AMA and still will in the near future but jet lag is real.

I'm about to hit the road and will be in Edmonton tonight and tomorrow gathering signatures in person for waternotcoal.ca - I'll talk a bit and sing a few tunes and both events are free:

-Arts Barns Westbury Theatre (Fri. 8th 5-11pm)

-Southbound Brewing (Sat. 9th 8-10pm)

Quick refresher for anyone new: I'm the proponent behind Water Not Coal - a Citizen Initiative Petition with Elections Alberta to stop coal mining in the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies where we get our water. Premier Smith once again said that if we hit our number, this goes on the October 19 referendum.

When I'm not fighting big foreign coal companies and stupid government decisions, I also play music - I'll be in Edmonton at The Starlite Room later this month.

People keep asking how the campaign is going and the answer is it's going very well but we want it to go even better and finish this thing decisively. We're in the last quarter of the ball game with a month to go.

The main thing we’re still hearing on the ground is that some people still haven't heard of our petition - that's where you come in. If this matters to you, PLEASE find one of our canvassers and sign the petition in person and ask 5 or 10 friends to do the same. You can find where to sign at https://waternotcoal.ca/sign-the-petition but you MUST sign in person - online isn't an option per Elections Alberta rules.

We don't have a big budget and there is a lot going on in the world but people like you talking to other people in your circles can really make a difference.

We're the only Petition in town now.

Hope to see you out there!

I recorded this tune in a back alley in Uppsala, Sweden.

Here's a lot of background if you're interested:

Hey folks.

Some of you might remember I did an AMA in early April. It was super fun:
https://www.reddit.com/r/alberta/comments/1sanm8m/corb_lund_here_albertan_musician_water_not_coal/

So much fun I've decided to do another one tmrw at 10AM, Tuesday May 5th. Thanks to the mods for clearing a second round.

When I’m not fighting big foreign coal companies and stupid government decisions, I also play music. I'm back from my European Tour and hitting the road around the Province this week (and May Long) on the coal campaign trail. We're finalizing the details so please check back and come say hi and sign in person: https://waternotcoal.ca/corbevents

People keep asking how the campaign is going and the answer is it's going very well but we want it to go even better and finish this thing decisively. We're in the last quarter of the ball game with 5 weeks to go.

We're the only Petition in town as of yesterday.

Ask Me Anything, especially about coal.

I recorded this in a back alley in Uppsala, Sweden - you’re the first to see it: Paradise
