If You Did’t Have Wood-Panelled Station Wagon in the 70s, Chances Are You Knew Someone That Did! Remember That God-Awful Trend?

If there is one 70s trend I hope stays in the 70s, it’s the wood-panelled cars, particularly the station wagons. Imagine a nice Tesla today with a knotty pine wraparound? Elon would not be a happy camper!

Panasonic TV from the 70s, complete with Rabbit Ears!

Remember the televisions back in the 70s, equipped with rabbit ears? This one is a Panasonic AN-269. All that exercise getting up from the couch to adjust those ears to get good reception. Who needs a remote when you have two legs!

Thoughts on this chord progression that slowly moves down the fretboard?

Who Had One of These? Original Sony Walkman (1979)

The 8 track cassette became extinct soon after the Sony Walkman was introduced in 1979. The portable Sony Walkman transformed how we listened to music and sparked huge demand in the compact cassette. I remember having boxes of compact cassettes as a kid. I wonder if any folks still listen to music on their Sony Walkmans?

Now Everybody Sing “Skippy, Skippy, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo”. Remember that theme song?

While I vaguely remember watching the Australian adventure series “Skippy” (1967-1969), I clearly recall the theme song for the show. In fact, I can’t seem to stop thinking about that melody now. Oh boy, what have I done!

Bonnie Tyler — RIP — “It’s a Heartache” (1977)

Bonnie Tyler burst onto the music scene in 1977 with “It’s a Heartache”, with that unique growly voice. She followed up with other big hits in the 80s, including “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, but her 1977 hit put her on the map. Sadly, she passed away on July 8, 2026.

Bo Derek in 10 (1979)……Drop……..Dead…….Gorgeous!

The one scene that immediately comes to mind when I think of the movie “10” with Bo Derek is when Dudley Moore is trying to get close to her on a piping hot sandy beach as he is walking barefoot, getting scorched with each painful step. Absolutely hilarious. Oh, and Bo looks pretty good in the movie too. 😂😂😂

Shaun Cassidy……70s Teen Idol…..Then Disappeared

Shaun Cassidy, that teen idol from the 70s, (best decade ever btw!) and was known for hit tracks like Do You Believe in Magic and Da Doo Ron Ron in the 70s. He was also known for playing a leading role on the popular adventure series, The Hardy Boys Mysteries. Then he stepped away from the stage. It just wasn’t for him. He still does play music, however.

Knots Landing’s Scheming, Manipulative Vixen: Donna Mills

When Knots Landing aired (1980-1989) we all wondered what manipulative scheme (delicious!) Abby Cunningham would come up with next. This was Donna Mills’s most identifiable work as an actress, and we savoured every dastardly deed she concocted each week. I mean, who doesn’t love a cliffhanger?

Who Was the Oldest on the Golden Girls? Hint: It Wasn’t Sophia (Estelle Getty who played Bea Arthur’s Mother)

Most viewers of The Golden Girls (1985-1992) assumed that Sophia (Estelle Getty) was the oldest of the four women on the show. Wrong! In fact, in 1985, Betty White was the oldest (63), Bea Arthur also at 63 (a few months younger than Betty White), Estelle Getty at 62, and Rue McClanahan at 51. Now you know!

Charlie’s Most Beautiful Angel……Jaclyn Smith……Sorry Farrah

Farrah Fawcett was likely THE most popular of Charlie’s Angels, however, in my opinion, Jaclyn Smith had a lock on the most stunning.

Creepy Movie “Magic” from 1978 — Gives Me Shivers Even Today

Anthony Hopkins starred in this creepy flick from 1978, along with Ann Margaret. The ventriloquist dummy named Fats gave this movie an eerie vibe. If you want to be scared out of your wits watching this type of movie, Anthony Hopkins does it best.

Meryl Streep — The Deer Hunter (1978) Was Her Breakout Role

Meryl Streep has 21 Oscar nominations and 3 Oscar award wins to her credit. It should be noted that her breakout role was in The Deer Hunter, nominated for Best Supporting Actress. A stellar career that may never be matched. Oh, and she’s pretty good at learning accents too!

I Loved The Partridge Family — Wholesome TV Watching…..and Funny!

I remember watching all of the Partridge Family episodes. The one where Keith has a crush on a girl who is singing Moonriver (Badly) but he hears a perfect pitch in a dreamy sort of way. Classic TV at its best!
