Residence proof: can I use two 100-point documents instead of 100 + 50?

I’m preparing an Irish citizenship by naturalisation application and I’m a bit confused by the current residence evidence guidance.

The newer “How to Become an Irish Citizen Guide” says that for each year you need at least 150 points, with at least one strong official document. It also describes supporting documents as optional.

For some years I have two strong official documents worth 100 points each, for example:

  • Revenue Employment Detail Summary, 100 points
  • AIB bank statement with regular transactions, 100 points

So that would give me 200 points for the year.

However, another ISD page still says that you must submit one Type A document worth 100 points and one Type B document worth 50 points.

I also asked the ISD chatbot Tara and it insisted on 100 + 50, but it appears to be relying on the older “Proofs of identity and residence” page.

Has anyone submitted a naturalisation application in 2026 using 100 + 100 instead of 100 + 50?

Was it accepted without any request for additional documents?

I’m especially interested in actual recent applications rather than interpretations of the guidance.

Lithuanian Cepelinai (Kartacze) with Crispy Bacon and Sour Cream 🇱🇹🇵🇱

A classic dish from Lithuanian cuisine that is also very popular in Poland, especially in the north-eastern regions.

These are cepelinai, known in Poland as kartacze. They are large potato dumplings, traditionally filled with minced meat and served with crispy fried bacon, onions and sour cream.

Simple, hearty and definitely not a light meal! 😄

Can you recommend a nice train journey in Poland?

I’ve been living outside Poland for quite a few years now, and I often see people saying how much Polish trains have improved and how enjoyable travelling by train can be.

I’ll be in Poland in a while and I really fancy taking a train somewhere, partly just for the experience. I can start my journey in Łódź.

Could you recommend a route where I could spend a few hours on the train, arrive somewhere interesting, and travel on a modern, comfortable train? It would be a bonus if the train had a WARS restaurant car as well.

I’m not necessarily looking for the fastest connection. I’d rather have a nice journey where the train ride itself is part of the trip.

Thanks for any suggestions! 🙂
