Sudden, debilitating back pain
For several years now I've had pretty regular, dull/aching back pain between my shoulder blades that I always referred to as "trapped gas", and would be able to massage out on a wall corner with accompanied belching. I recently learned this could be a hiatal hernia. I currently have an appointment scheduled for about 2 weeks our for an endoscopy to check into it.
Here's the weird part: I also occasionally, like once or twice per year, get this sudden, debilitating back pain in the same spot. I've been assuming that its a pulled muscle, but the normal treatments for that, including muscle relaxers, don't even touch it. I only yesterday realized, in the middle of one of these episodes, that it could potentially also be related to a hiatal hernia.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? My scope is scheduled for July 8th, and Ive had maybe a dozen of these instances before, but I don't know if it's considered an emergency and I've just been lucky. My back hurts more than normal in the spot, but nowhere near as severely as it did yesterday.
