Is STC enough for the S7?

I used STC for my SIE and it was on point. Nothing felt uncovered and the real exam was quite close to the practice exams.

I question if that will be the case for the S7 as well.

When I say STC, i mean all its resources because I will go through them all -

  1. The whole book
  2. Progress exams
  3. Chapter Exams
  4. 2 Greenlight Exams
  5. 8 Finals
  6. Chapter Flashcards

The above come out to 1360 questions. Is that enough? Would love to hear from people that passed S7 using ONLY STC.

I am not looking for other resource suggestions. The purpose is to ascertain if STC in itself is enough.

Rank this table! S7 Chapters / Topics

Below is the STC book index.

I will kick off my prep soon (just got done w the SIE today) and want to know where I should really lay some damage. Plan to read the whole book.

Everyone talks about Options (Ch 12) and Muni's (Ch 7), also low hanging fruit like customer accounts (Ch 2).

However, what would be your top 5 chapter rankings for weightage in the exam / importance. If you feel generous (or bored), feel free to do top 10.

Chapter Title
1 Building an Investor Profile
2 Customer Accounts
3 Customer Communications
4 Equity Securities
5 Fundamentals of Debt
6 Corporate Debt
7 Municipal Debt
8 U.S. Treasury and Government Agency Debt
9 Investment Companies
10 Variable Products
11 Alternative Products
12 Options
13 Offerings
14 Investment Risks, Returns and Disclosures
15 Portfolio and Market Analysis
16 Fundamental Analysis
17 Orders and Trade Execution
18 Margin

Reading the book worth it? S7

I have the STC material, and have been debating reading the whole 450 page book. Its not a lack of time, but the fact that even if I read a 450 book in 10 days, how much will I even retain? I'm better off doing exams / Q banks.

I read the whole study manual for the SIE because it was easy to follow and relatively short.

I don't want to go the "spam Q's" route and am considering using AI to summarize each chapter to bare bones highlights.

Any thoughts on this approach, tweaks, the benefits of reading the whole book or thoughts in general would be appreciated.

Are STC online study manuals incomplete?

I recently purchased the STC SIE course and studied chapters 1-5 from the study manual.

I decided to try out the chapter 1 quiz and started getting questions that I swear were never covered in the chapter (How many pages should a reg bi be, what financial statements does the SEC use to evaluate an accredited investor).

This made me wonder, are the online STC study manuals incomplete?

STC did say they will mail me some material, so is the physical book the actual full book and the one I should be reading?

Pinning a shotgun - How bad?

I live in a restricted state, and no rifle or shotgun can have over 5 round capacity.

https://preview.redd.it/2wh7e9yp9lmh1.png?width=1702&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0683e4be24b80b016435078f741e31baede6ae4

I really want to buy a Mossberg 590 Retro, but that comes in 8+1 capacity, therefore I will have to "pin" it. Before I take the plunge I wanted to know-

  1. What are the different methods (Dowel Rod, tube limiter, permanent pin)? And which one would be the best?

  2. How bad is it for the rifle if its a permanent pin?

  3. What does that job cost on average

  4. Is it reversible?

Appreciate the help.

NYC Rifle / Shotgun Capacity Question

When I got my r/S permit, I also got the registration form, where it states there is a 5 round cap on rifles and shotguns in NYC.

https://preview.redd.it/3g8tgrnagfmh1.png?width=756&format=png&auto=webp&s=c373a77422e53d8db0cef0c558f900fd95397864

Is this truly the case?

I wanted to buy a henry golden boy (15 round capacity - .22LR) and a Mossberg 590 Retro (7 Rounds)

In the NYC administrative code 10-306 , it is stated -
" No person may possess an ammunition feeding device which is designed for use in a rifle or shotgun and which is capable of holding more than five rounds of rifle or shotgun ammunition"

So does the NYPD follow the "ammunition feeding device" (i.e a magazine) rule or is there a carpet ban on all r/S over 5 rounds?
