Insurance claim

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice from people who've actually dealt with motor insurance claims in India.

I have a 2025 Kia Seltos HTK(O) 1.5 NA Petrol MT, purchased about 10 months ago. The dealership insisted that I take their insurance, so my insurer is HDFC ERGO. I also have Zero Dep, Return to Invoice, Consumables Cover, etc.

Unfortunately, over the past 10 months, I've ended up with three cosmetic scratches on three different panels, all on the left side of the car, but they happened on three different occasions:

Front quarter panel – happened on the 2nd day after delivery.

Rear quarter panel (below the fuel lid) – happened about 2–3 months later.

Driver's door – happened around 10 days ago while manoeuvring in my apartment parking after washing the car. This one damaged the PPF significantly and appears to have gone down to the primer (not bare metal).

The car is otherwise in excellent condition and is usually kept covered.

I called the dealership today to ask about claiming insurance, and over the phone they told me that only one panel can be claimed and that the other panels cannot be included.

This confused me because I always thought insurance is based on the incident, not the number of panels.

So my questions are:

Is there any actual rule (IRDAI/HDFC ERGO policy) that says only one panel can be repaired under an own-damage claim?

Or is the real reason that my scratches happened in three separate incidents, so they would be treated as separate claims?

Has anyone with HDFC ERGO had a similar experience?

Is the dealership correct, or should I wait until the surveyor/insurance coordinator inspects the car before assuming only one panel can be claimed?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've gone through this themselves, especially with HDFC ERGO or Kia dealerships.

Thanks in advance!

How Do You Deal with Habitual Gate Blockers?

I'm fed up with people from the neighboring houses parking in front of my apartment gate.

My apartment building has four gates, so every parking space has easy access, and the gate directly in front of my parking spot is the one I use. I've been using it regularly since I bought my car approximately a year ago.

Despite having a clearly visible "No Parking" sign and repeatedly requesting people not to block it, I still find someone's car parked there every now and then. What's even more frustrating is that these aren't even residents of my apartment, they're people from the nearby individual houses.

The locality isn't congested at all. Every house has its own dedicated parking space inside the property, and the owners also have plenty of space to park right outside their own homes. There is absolutely no shortage of parking, which makes it even harder to understand why they choose to park right in front of the one gate that's actively used.

It's not like my car is rarely used either. I drive it almost every day, so everyone around has seen me taking it in and out. Yet people still park there for their own convenience, forcing me to walk to their house and ask them to move the vehicle, sometimes when I'm in a hurry or when I've just returned home tired.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Apart from repeatedly asking people, are there any practical ways to prevent this?
