PSION Siena slowly crumbling apart

Just got a little Psion Siena (1996) from a family member, it has a few cracks on the shell and most notably, the broken hinge:

I don't really know how to go about fixing it since I think just gluing it won't be enough to support opening the screen or the little spring in the hinge might just twist it off again.
Any Ideas?

Help my fix my R40 (2003) - broken Motherboard? - PART II

Since Part 1:
-I now bought a working IDE drive (makes weird rattling noises sometimes but good enough for now)
-installed good old XP via USB without problems

Now, after the successful surgery, the non-existent thermal paste got replaced but I still have some issues - is my board maybe screwed?

-The Disc drive tries to read stuff but still does not work (thats why I had to install via USB)
-The speaker does not work (maybe just a driver issue, hasn't been online yet, also beep tone works)
-the RAM still seems to be getting extremely hot, is this normal?

How do i figure out if those devices failing is an issue with the motherboard or the devices itself?

Side projects:

-Since the original drive is out, the Access IBM key lost its function.
Is it worth re-installing this firmware or do i try converting it into a windows key since the keyboard is missing it?

-maybe slapping in a wifi card, getting a dock and installing the max 2GB ram and try to run some stuff or install linux

Help me save my R40 that won't boot.

I just got this old R40 gifted but it wont boot.
Im pretty sure the Hard Drive gave up (Error 0200), so i tried to use some service tools (PC-Doctor for DOS and Ultimate Boot CD) to maybe repair it but it won't recognize any CD/DVD although it's the first one in boot order. The F12 to choose boot device while post wont work either.

Also, when im have the HDD installed this Phoenix FirstBIOS (img 2) comes up, is that stock IBM or modified?

Since the Data on the HDD is not really important,

  1. What would be a cheap alternative to it (i have seen some people talk about using compact flash cards but idk)
  2. Is there maybe a problem with the MoBo or disk drive?

PS: I put in a fresh CMOS Battery idk if that changes something

Broken Palm Vx - Motherboard or Display damage?

Hello everyone,

I aquired this broken Palm Vx and I cant get a display.

Here's what I already tried and figured out:

-charged it for hours, tried doing all sorts of resets
-since the battery is dead i also tried with a 3V power source hooked up to the internal connector, but with the same results
-does not respond to any input (brightness, power, reset button combos, etc.)
-as soon as it gets power the backlight is slightly visible (picture 3, really only visible in the dark)
-cleaned and reseated ribbon cables and checked all the pins

My best guess would be that either the screen or main board are damaged but idk for sure. I'd really hope to get it back running since i also got the keyboard.

Is there any way to fix this or do I need to buy a replacement device?
