Air Purifier: how close to litter box?

My litter box is in an alcove area between my kitchen and family room. It’s about 6x6’ room with high ceilings.

I want to get an air purifier but I’m wondering:

  1. Is it okay to put it across the room?

  2. Is it okay to elevate the purifier on a desk, or does it need to be on the floor next to the box?

  3. Can I get a purifier for a small room given that this area is pretty open to other rooms?

Parent rejected independent living idea, how to keep suggesting it?

I’m looking for advice, anecdotes, etc. I have learned so much from this board.
Last week I, unemotionally, presented my father with three options for him to live out his remaining years and what those options would look like, i.e. staying at home would mean eventually putting a bed in a downstairs room, adding a shower to the bathroom, etc. another option was moving in with me, and a third was a retirement home with assisted living options available when and if he’d need it. He’s very lonely and has enough money to pay for the IL option just with his pension, this would not dip into savings and would not use up his entirety yearly pension. He’s very fortunate in that regard.
Anyway, this week I invited him to come with me to this party at the IL community I had previously looked at. I said it wasn’t a sales pitch and it was a party they throw monthly and we could go. All this was the truth. Anyway, he said no, which I’m not terribly surprised about.
I will respect his answer for now, but there are so many good reasons why he should move. All my extended family thinks it’s a brilliant idea and would solve so many of his issues.
I’m wondering what’s the most effective way to get someone to look at a place like this? When I say my extended family, it’s not his blood relatives, it’s my deceased mother’s side. He would definitely not listen to them if they brought it up. He has a brother though who he might listen to. But I also feel this could go off the rails real quick if he feels pressured.

Independent Living: Where/ How to start and so many financial questions

My father, in my opinion, would be a perfect candidate for IL. He’s in his early 80s, widowed for 7 years, very depressed, lonely, and incredibly bored.

Over the years since my mother’s passing, he does less and less and honestly, I don’t think he can handle too much in his life. He runs errands basically once a week and goes out to the store when it first opens, so his big activity (grocery shopping), he basically finishes by 8am.

He spends his days watching tv and engaging in romance scams. He’s become very intolerant, self absorbed, and downright rude to people. His children and grandchildren can’t stand to be around him. He has one friend.

His health is completely fine, no issues, and he maintains regular appts. His parents lived to their mid 90s and really just died of old age.

He’s a multimillionaire, has long term health insurance, a few homes. He’s also incredibly cheap, buys the absolute cheapest brands of food. He’s not maintaining the homes very well and ignores issues.

He definitely does not see himself as old. Furthermore his hair has not grayed, which I think elevates himself to other ppl his age. He definitely thinks he’s better than everyone and would not consider an 80 yr old woman his peer. She’s just an old lady.

We live in a HCOL place. There are plenty of IL to AL places in my town. I live 20 min from him. How does this all work: does he have to buy into the facility? Is it like a down payment on a house? He has a primary residence and a vacation home that I plan on inheriting. Can he keep that one in his name and sell his main house? He does travel to the vacation home, but he literally just sits there watching tv for a few months, then goes back home and does the same thing the rest of the year.

I could see him doing absolutely nothing in an IL place, but as I’ve been searching this sub, I see that some places require you to eat two meals in the dining hall and make efforts to draw ppl out of their apts.

Do I search places first and then approach him? I’m sure it’s going to be a no from him, but I have seen here how important it is to stress the “better do this now, than when it’s too late”.

Lastly, is the difference between a facility and just hiring live in care, is the socialization? Everyone else in my family has just used family and live in care for elderly relatives. There’s no one who moved into a place.

Thank you!

Best streaming service for downloading on multiple devices

My family of 5 has a long flight coming up and I want to upgrade our streaming services. I’ve looked into all the major networks and read all the fine print, but I’m worried I’m going to sign up for something and find out after the fact it’s not what I want.
If anyone has a recommendation of a service that will allow 5 users to download 16+ hours of shows on 5 separate devices, I’d appreciate it!

Open to close at Disneyland, what to expect

My family (parents + 3 teens) are doing one day at Disneyland next week. We’re staying at the Marriott close by and plan to leave our hotel at 6:30am to make it for rope drop. We plan to stay until midnight.

What’s it going to be like to cram everything into one day? Or is there plenty of time to do all the rides? We have LL and are not interested in parades, fireworks, or sit down meals.

At WDW, we always come back to the resort in the afternoon to get out of the heat and to swim and relax before going back in the evening. But we always had a week there.

Do ppl who only have one day go back to their hotels to rest/ swim? Or is it go go go for 16 hours and you need the time? Or should we do park hopper b/c all day and night will allow us to do both parks. Personally I’m not keen on the added expense of the park hopper, but this is probably our only time we’ll ever be near Anaheim.

Crowds at Disneyland on 5/16: if you were there…

I’m going for one day to Disneyland on 5/30, which is a Sat. To get a sense of the crowds on a similar day, I pretty much stalked the wait times on the app all day yesterday (Sat).

The wait times really didn’t seem that bad to me. It looked like Fantasyland was about 15-20 min all day and the real popular lines had an hr or so wait all day.

We are ppl who will rope drop the rope drop and stay until midnight and do LL. What I saw yesterday on the app looked very manageable but I’d love the perspective of ppl who were actually there.

Thanks!
