Shipping cost questions

Hello, i am wondering about shipping costs from buyee, specifically shipping cameras to Australia.

i bought one point and shoot film camera the other day, cost roughly 35 AUD shipping via EMS.

im just wondering how much does shipping increase if i was to buy say two or three cameras and consolidate them or better to avoid consolidating? does it go up linearly or will it only increase a little bit per camera? bit annoying that you cant get the shipping price until after you have already chosen to consolidate! also found the "shipping estimator tool" to not be particularly accurate.

also wondering about the shipping options, i have heard EMS is a pretty good option to go with, but are the cheaper options that much worse, or are they just slightly slower? i couldve gone with one that was half the price of EMS, dont remember what it was called tho, how risky are they?

i have already bought two cameras for roughly 7 AUD each, so im not too worried if the shipping is expensive ish as they were already very cheap.

if anyone has some answers for me that would be fantastic! thank you very much.

Most underrated point and shoot?

Hey guys

Just wondering what you guys would say is the most underrated point and shoot 35mm camera? Or even just your personal favourites?

In a world of overpriced Mjus and whatnot that we have at the moment what are the secret hidden gems?

I like trying new and different cameras both manual SLRSs and Point and shoot cams, so keen to learn about the ones I don’t know. Especially if they’re budget friendly 😉

Edit: forgot to mention, also particularly interested in cameras with fast lenses as I take a lot of shots at night!

Cheers!

Help me learn basic camera repair 🙏

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to get into repairing old film cameras as a hobby and I’m looking for some advice. If anyone on here is experienced with this, what are some tips you would give a beginner? Anything important I should know? What models are best to work on? Been shooting 35mm film since I was around 14 and used to do my own developing too. I am now 21 and wouldn’t mind trying to expand my skills.

Also if anyone has any old cameras or camera gear they want to get rid of please let me know! I would love to practice on them before I inevitably wreck a few while learning 😅

If anyone around Melbourne has old film cameras, broken point-and-shoots/SLRS/Lenses sitting in a drawer collecting dust, I’d love to give them a second life instead of them ending up as e-waste.

Doesn’t matter if they’re untested, partially working, or completely dead and am happy to pick up depending on location, and I’m not expecting expensive or collectible stuff. I am in the inner south eastern suburbs.

Thanks heaps 🙏🙏

Camera issue (mju 1 panorama)

Hey guys, this might not be the right sub for this but I have a camera issue. recently got a Mju 1 panorama "For Parts" super cheap. it initially had an issue with the shutter not firing at all, and lens getting stuck sticking out a tiny bit instead of fully extending and retracting.

Was ready to give up on the camera but I managed to fix this issue by applying light pressure on the internal shutter assembly through the film door. It now shoots as it should, lens fully extends and retracts.

But, to no ones surprise i have come across another issue. The shutter button immediately takes a photo when half-pressing the shutter button instead of locking the AF. the green light does momentarily turn on to indicate successful focus though. Got a test roll in the camera now so not sure if the photos are actually being focused or not. due to the sensitivity of the button, i keep accidentally taking photos. i can still distinctly feel both half and full clicks of the shutter button when using. not sure if that helps with diagnosis or not.

Does anyone know what might cause this issue, or know the difficulty of the fix? any info would be great cheers. if its unfixable i dont mind too much as it was super cheap and already managed to fix it up a fair bit. Also got a big mini neo for $3 that is fully working except for the lcd screen lol.

thanks guys

Big Mini Neo LCD

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows a tutorial on how to fix a big mini neo (BM-510z) LCD screen? Seems to be an issue with the ribbon cable that goes through the hinge.

Found tutorials online but only for the prime lens versions of the camera. Anyone know if the zoom model is any different/easier/harder?

Any info would be great cheers!

Mju 1 panorama not firing

Hey guys found a mju 1 for super cheap so thought I’d grab it. Has an issue where when shutter button is pressed, lens sticks out a tiny bit then stays there. Does not extend the full amount but just a bit.

Everything works including winding, LCD screen, etc.

Flash works but when it goes off, it flickers on and off repeatedly very fast and makes a loud flickering noise. Not sure if the flash and shutter/lens issue are conected or not.

Like I said, was super cheap so don’t care too much if it’s a dud. If anyone knows what causes this issue let me know might even have a go at fixing it myself.

Cheers

Dayvigo to Belsomra switch

Hey guys I’ve been struggling with next day drowsiness on 5mg Dayvigo so Gp has switched me to Belsomra 15mg as it is supposed to be shorter.

Just wondering what I should expect and how the two compare. Is one more effective than the other ? Thanks heaps 🙏

Canon Autoboy 2 - No power

Just found an auction for an autoboy 2 only a couple km away from me. 0 bidders with only a few mins left, won auction at $5. Listing says does not power on when batteries inserted.

Is this likely to be an issue with battery contacts or something else?

Obviously hard to tell without it in my hands but yeah if anyone knows common problems with these that could be the cause let me know cheers!

Same seller also had a mju 1 panorama with 0 bidders so got that for a steal too, same issue.

Hey guys saw a YouTube video the other day where a guy bought 8 mju 1 cameras labeled as “for parts” and managed to get like 6/8 or something working with relative ease. Some worked straight out the box and some needed only extremely minor tweaks.

Like 3 of them weren’t working until he opened the film door and shot while it was open and then they came back to life.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences with buying “for parts” cameras? Could it be a decent way to find bargains or just a dumb idea. Cheers

Hey guys been on 5mg Dayvigo for maybe two months now. It was super good at getting me to sleep at first like I’d fall asleep within 30 mins to an hour of taking it without fail and it was the best sleeping med ever. I have hyperarousal trouble shutting off my brain at night due to adhd racing mind.

Although recently I’ve found it hasn’t been working quite as well. I am also having terrible next day grogginess that lasts well into the next day. It’s now 12:30 lunch time and I feel like I could fall straight to sleep and I took it 11pm last night. I make sure to have it a while after eating as I know that delays it.

I know it’s a long half life drug, is it possible it is building up in my system over time and causing more next day tiredness as well as tolerance?

Dayvigo was like a miracle at first but seems to be having some drawbacks now. Please if anyone has any suggestions let me know. Been on lots of different meds for sleep including benzos, z drugs, etc and this one worked great and now isnt.

Still better at getting me to sleep than other things so would accept it if it weren’t for the next day tiredness!! GP said she wants me to trial zolpidem if I didn’t respond well to Dayvigo, which hopefully will have less hangover but I’d rather stay on Dayvigo if I can.
