Miata Mechanic

Hello Indy Reddit people. To my other Miata owners out there what mechanic shop do you use? I have personally been using R&M Automotive in Plainfield but I feel maybe there’s a better more suited shop I can go to. They recently quoted me $500 to replace the MAF sensor which sounded insane but then after I personally replaced it, it wasn’t the issue.

Can’t rev past 2k rpms

Hello Reddit. I have a 1994 NA Miata and recently I broke down on the highway (twice), took it to a mechanic they quoted me $500 to replace the MAF sensor I declined the service and did it myself since it’s just a MAF sensor. Now that I’ve replaced it after driving to and from work once it’s doing it again. Won’t rev above 2k rpms (manual trans). Truly not sure what to do. Gonna try to loosen the cat and see if it’s clogged. Maybe buy a smoke tester to see if I have a leak somewhere. Any suggestions are appreciated. 1.8 inline 4

MAF replacement

I’m stuck on the highway again. So I replaced my MAF sensor like the mechanic had diagnosed but I’m still getting the same issue. I’m not able to get above 2k rpms. Can someone once again give me feedback? Does the ECU need touched on? I truly don’t know what to do. Someone suggested the cat being clogged so I’ll try that later but what’s the best thing I can do to try to fix this? I have no engine codes. 1994 NA
