Update to "washed out road"
Update to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/homestead/comments/1se8gr4/dealing_with_a_washed_out_road/
So, I found a friend who is a civil engineer by trade, and checked out the bridge, in a non-official capacity (He's not signing off on shit haha)
His advice, which I followed was to either cement up the low side, to hold the soil in place, or a rubble wall. Alternatively, sandbagging it, to prevent any further washout.
But, in the end, he found the root issue: the culvert wasn't the problem, it's the flow from both side of the "bridge", finding the low spot (Its at the "valley" of the road). So I've got to gravel up the interface of the bridge, and use hardware cloth to retain the gravel in place.
His estimate is, if nothing is done, the entire thing will need to be re-done in year or two, but with the fixes he suggests, should give me a good decade.
I had thought it was the steel beams supporting the bridge, but they are not, they're resting on the dirt, just offering a structure for the decking.
So, breathed a sigh of relief, because now I can plan it out a bit better. Might end up running with the shipping container bridge down the road.
Darn Tough Lifetime Warranty
I have some old darn tough socks which are starting to get a hole (see images). Anyone know if they are viable for a replacement on their lifetime warranty policy?
