Looks like Triumph itself only offers lower engine bars. Do those suffice?

I'm interested in a used Yamaha XSR 700, with 60k km on it. It's sold by a dealer with one year warranty (though not sure yet which parts warranty applies to).
Price is a little over 5000 euros.
Is this a solid deal for a beginner (who will have taken classes and gotten their license)?
Is this too old, too high a mileage? Anything to watch out for? Better to fork over 1000-2000 euros more for a new model with lower mileage?
