Successfully switched to $10 Magenta Tablet Plan (ZB10HSTI) as a brand-new customer!
In-case anybody was still wondering, it turns out that getting the $10 tax-included tablet unlimited plan from T-Mobile for Business is still possible! If anybody else wants to give it a try, here's exactly what I did to make it happen:
- First, you need to signup for $15/month tax-excluded tablet plan (we'll be switching it later, because the $10 plan isn't available for new lines), which you can find by going here, selecting Tablet as the device type, and on the next screen you'll see the following plan: Business Unlimited for Tablets with 10GB of high-speed hotspot data. Tax Exclusive.
- Go to the credit check page, fill out the information, and proceed to checkout.
- If you have an actual business and have the documents found here readily available, definitely go the EIN route.
- Otherwise, you'll definitely want to use your SSN to avoid complications (EIN sole proprietorship does not work well, and will probably mess up the entire process when they prompt you to upload documentation).
- Note: If you're signing up with your SSN, you won't be able to create a regular T-Mobile consumer account using it, so be warned!
- If the checkout was successful, great! Unfortunately though in some cases, the verification will fail and you'll be greeted with a popup like this asking you to visit the store in order to confirm your identity. In that case, you have no other option but to visit the store...
- No, calling the T-Mobile for Business customer service line won't help... I've spoken to probably a dozen different reps and was transferred to many different departments, and every single one of them told me that they're unable to handle line additions if you don't already have the business account open, which you need to do in-store.
- When you visit the store, ask them to help you open a new business account and setup a new line. Thing is: if you show them the tablet plan, they will tell you that they don't have it. It turns out only Business Executives can setup the plan, so you'll need to ask them to setup your line as a random phone plan, then have them switch the plan to a tablet one and they should be able to see it (the SOC code is ZTP10HTE if they're having trouble finding it).
- After you have the $15 tax-exclusive tablet plan setup, you need to call the Business Care line at 877-347-2127. Explain that you have an existing tablet line and wanted to switch it to another plan with the SOC code ZBT10HSTI.
- The plan now requires approval from a supervisor (hence why T-Force isn't able to help with this specific plan anymore), so if the rep tells you that you need to be approved for the plan, or that you aren't eligible for it, ask if they can request an approval from their supervisor.
- If all goes well (and the "request" is approved), that's it! If you want, you can also ask the rep over the phone to apply the HD pass with the SOC code HDVPASS0, but T-Force is also able to handle additions of this pass without a supervisor, so whatever works best for you.
Hopefully this helps someone!
