Cinnamon bun day in 🇸🇪

When she was younger, Princess had a habit of just lying down anywhere to take a nap. And she snored!!! Now she picks her spots where she will lie down more carefully. And she stopped snoring all the time! At least I have these old videos of her ASMR sleeping sounds to make me cozy 😌 Still, she is a heavy sleeper. The farrier banging on the shoes (hers or Bebben's) doesn't bother her at all. Yet another reason why we call her Princess ;)

As is known, Bebben and Peincess live far north, where, in winter, sun rises late and sets early. But we are not far north enough not to see daylight during these months. We typically have twilight-like hours between 11AM and 2PM. So I wanted to show how we go out on an adventure in winter. Although this video was taken in April late night (10PM), when the daylight is very long, it still pretty much shows how we shine.

There's a section of our trail we must take that's shared with cars, trucks, and huge logging trucks, and the speed limit is 90 :( luckily its only 500meters, and we often don't see anyone but a lonely car as we are careful about the time when we go out. Still, it can be very dangerous if drivers can't see us. Although we trained both horses to be safe in traffic, Bebben still reacts to huge trucks. And since he is ridden by an 11-yo girld, we have to play it safe and lead him this section of the road.

So, this is how we make ourselves visible. I still think Princesse's shackles need more light :) Bonus, last photo of Bebben under aurora (he just won't stay still.for a nice long exposure shot) 😉

A little video compilation showing Bebben's goofiness, and why we call him Baby (Bebben = the Baby). He is the reason I don't have gloves (he takes them out of my pockets), he is the reason the forest gave up on growing baby trees, and he is the reason why my husband smells like swamp water every day :)

Yes, in some of the clips he is extra fat, but I promise he lost significant amount of weight and we don't need girdle extensions anymore! (we used to need 2 when he came to us) Still has lots to go and we will get there :)

Last year Princess pulled timber sleds (well, just one part of it) for the first time. On her second try, she discovered it can be very fun :) She already knows she loves running in snow, now add pulling humans through it (and perhaps causing some mayhem...). She is the best girl when it comes to work ethics, and she really thinks pulling just about anything is fun. We only need to work with her on being patient. As soon as we equip her, she wants to go go go, and we barely have time to sit on the sled/buggy safely :)

Filmed in early December, and this is the amount of sunlight we get at 2PM and why it's hard to film/photograph in the arctic winter.

I use my horsies as photomodels too. And Princess is particularly photogenic. That is when I shoot her with others. All our selfies are ridiculous and its because she can't keep a straight face with me 🤣

Princess had a farrier appointment so we thought it's a good time to take Bebben out on his own. But these two have a very strong bond, and Bebben didn't want to go without Princess. He was constantly turning around to see if she is coming.

First clip is of us trying to lure him into going forward. Second clip is of Bebben realizing we turned to go home. You can feel "Princess I'm coming" vibe all around him. His little backpack can only hold on :D

Yes, they need more alone times like this. Or we need more horses ;)

Princess got a new harness. This is her first time wearing it, and she thinks its much more comfortable than the collar. Since we are doing only some light buggy pulling in summertime, we thought to make it a comfier experience for her. But she needed to get used to new harness and all the back parts touching her butt (she never had that before). So we took her for a walk. Bebben and his little backpack (girl that rides him) came along as a support.

And at that time, the neighbor decided its a good time to clip his grass with this awesome robot lawn mower. Both Bebben and Princess were amazed!

Galaxy S20

This is Bebben and he came to the north from southern Sweden. His previous owner searched specifically for a new northern home for him. Turns out, Bebben loves winter and hates hates summers. He is so slow and lazy in good weather, but blizzards inspire him :) -30C? No problem, he sleeps in snow.... when it hist -40C we make him go inside for a bit. if only fresh grass could grow in winter he would be the happiest horse alive. And yes, snowfall inspires him and he gets so playful there's no stopping him 🥰 mind you, he is still a draft so he doesn't look as graceful as arabians in snow but he is trying 😉

This is us few days ago. Now its rain rain rain... :( Princess hates rain! Bebben prefers rain outside than rain beating the stable roof :)

By the way, don't tell my hubby I'm posting all these videos of him 🤣

I found more videos from this winter. This time we took Princess Glimma out for a walk without her horsie friend, to build up her confidence. She was alert, curious, and happy. I am glad she fully trusts us. Nevertheless, she couldn't hide her excitement when she saw home, so she tried to trot back into her paddock. Sadly I didn't catch that part :)

Princess is wearing what I was told is a military/artillery harness of Swedish army, from the WW2. This is the only harness that fits her as she is pretty thick, but is still growing so we don't want to custom order her a new one until she settles in her size.

I just discovered I can put videos here :) So here's a little throwback to this winter when our young mare (she was 4 here) pulled her first log (small birch) out of the forest.

She loves to work and loves to concentrate and get all the praise when she does a good job. But you can see the insecurity in her steps when choosing the path (we let her choose the path she thinks its the best and gently correct her only if she makes a judgment mistake).

And who is with us? Her best friend Bebben, who is afraid of hard work and would rather take little girls on a ride through snowy magical forest.
