Inspiration for the Youth

Inspiration for the Youth

This came in this week and I have been inspired to craft curriculum for my film students. I think they’d love to make a project that uses food as a vehicle to explore different cultures.

Glad this book exists. If everything goes to plan, I’ll share some final drafts of the episodes they make here.

Commercial Filming at Old Gardena Carl’s Jr.

Anyone know what is being filmed? They’ve painted the old Carls Jr. and have “Live Picante” painted on the windows along with ads for hard shell tacos.

Seeking Advice from Principals/APs in handling an interview situation.

Hi all,

I’m going for my first admin role, Dean of Students, after teaching for 10+ years. I’ve done a bunch of the leadership stuff along the way (PBIS/MTSS Lead, ILT, Department Chair) and I’m starting my admin credential program this fall. Principal is the end goal.

So here’s the issue. They gave me the panel names ahead of time and one of the people on it is someone I have real history with. Back when we worked together this guy spent a lot of energy trying to get me fired, and his last year there was basically a campaign to make my life miserable. It didn’t work, my admins saw through it, but I’m not naive enough to think he’s going to be neutral in that room. And even if the interview goes great, I figure he’ll find a way to throw doubt on me after.

What I’m thinking is to flag it to HR, not the panel or the admins. Just a quick, neutral heads up that I’ve got a prior conflict with a panelist, no big dramatic backstory, just enough that it’s on record and his take gets weighed with that in mind. But I keep going back and forth on whether even that makes me look like I’m bringing baggage before I’ve walked in the door.

Anybody dealt with something like this? Is going to HR the right call or does it just create a problem that wasn’t there yet? And if you’d do it, how would you word it?

Thanks.

The Curious Case of the Boat Load of Peanut Shells

I feel like a madman typing this, but has anyone happened to see peanut shell after peanut shell in their backyards or front yards?

I’ve been walking my dogs in my neighborhood and we usually go on a 2 mile walk using different paths. No matter which way we walk or which house we stop at there are always discarded peanut shells. Whether a semi whole shell or fragments of one, there is without a doubt a chance I will find a peanut shell.

First thought was birds, but the sheer amount of shells I find in such a wide area makes me skeptical.

Please. Someone have some kind of rational explanation that makes sense?
