First Impressions: Ed O'Brien's new album, "Blue Morpho", is finally out! 🦋

Ed's new work has just been released, and I wanted to share my very first impressions right off the bat. I'll try not to spoil it too much, but I'll tell you one thing right away: after listening to it, I felt genuinely happy. It's a very, very solid and truly beautiful record.

The tracks that stood out to me the most on the first listen are Incantations, Blue Morpho, Teachers, and Obrigado. Incantations and Blue Morpho are excellent and perfectly set the mood of the record. Teachers has a gorgeous, hypnotic bassline of absolute top quality. Then there is Obrigado, which is undoubtedly the most mind-blowing song on the album. It's a nearly 10-minute masterpiece that just flies by as if it were 2. I'm calling it: on the first listen, this is the best track of our Ed's entire solo career.

In a few days, the new Boards of Canada album, "Inferno", will be released, and I definitely heard their influence on this work by Ed. This vibe is noticeable here and there in almost every track, as if it were an intrinsic part of the project, but it becomes incredibly evident in the final track, Obrigado. It has that typical "deteriorated" BoC sound, which is absolutely fantastic and perfectly integrated into the production.

It all makes perfect sense, too: I think Ed mentioned in an interview that he listens to the Boards of Canada a lot and that he was actually introduced to them by Thom!

Massive congratulations to Ed for this wonderful project. Happy listening everyone, it's going to be a very, very beautiful 40 minutes 🤩

Giurisprudenza a Bologna, consigliata come facoltà?

Ciao a tutti! 👋

Me la consigliate come facoltà oggi?

Ogni esperienza, dritta o avvertimento è super accetto. Grazie in anticipo a chi si prenderà il tempo di rispondermi! In bocca al lupo a chi è sotto esami. 📚

Is Prophecy their best single ever? I literally cannot stop listening

I literally cannot stop hitting replay on Prophecy. I’ve always loved BoC, but this level of obsession is completely new for me. I don’t think any of their tracks has ever hooked me quite like this.
It’s a 5-minute track, but it honestly goes by in what feels like 60 seconds. The vibe is just unbelievable: it’s incredibly beautiful, but at the same time so dark, wicked, and almost aggressive. It has this mean, heavy atmosphere that I am absolutely obsessed with.
On top of that, the lyrics are absolutely mind-blowing. At least for me, it’s undoubtedly some of the most intriguing writing they’ve ever done. It really feels like they managed to outdo themselves once again, if that was even possible. It's just an incredible, incredible track.
I genuinely think this is one of the best things they’ve ever put out, and I don't think I'm exaggerating. As a standalone single, this might be their absolute highest peak.
Obviously, we'll have to see how it fits into the broader context of the album, but my hype is completely off the charts right now. I cannot wait for Inferno to drop. These next two weeks are going to be agonizingly slow.
God, I love you BoC.
