Portland 7/17

I’ve never heard of Chris Stapleton, but it’s a madhouse outside my apartment as fans flood into the stadium next door. I say this without an ounce of irony and with all the sincerity in the world:

I hope you have an amazing time!

I’ve heard that the show is sold out, so it sounds like you’ll be in for a great vibe. Have so much fun!

In this corner, weighing in at a whopping 48.5 ounces …

… Bruiser! The featherweight champion of the apartment! In the past ten hours alone, Eugene “Baby Little Bruiser” LastName has been training in blade fighting, parkour, contortion and the speed fern.

Bruiser, the weeny baby kitten who came into my life while I was on a trip two states away, has officially become possessed by a demon. I’m pretty sure that’s what tipped him over three pounds. Today, he discovered jumping. Half an hour ago, he’d never seen that window sill before.

We are at 11 weeks now. He has his next appointment on Monday. Kid is thriving and is so confident, curious and beloved by everyone he meets, and he loves the attention. There’s no trace of the sick baby left in him these days. He’s all fluff and cuddles and chaos.

I don’t know how long is too long for CDS updates. Should this be the last one? (I honestly don’t know the etiquette here, so that’s a genuine question.)

(The costumes are practice for his harness, which is currently too big, somehow. Only with supervision.)

And update on Bruiser, the abandoned kitten who found me out of state

Baby Bruiser is now an official terror and I love him very much. He is delightful, and currently hogging the brain cell. He’s too smart for my own good. Some of my favorite things: he comes running when I call “baby Bruiser, where are you?”; he loves visiting our friends; his carrier is his safe place no matter where he is, and I love seeing him climb in top to use it as a hammock; he and the dogs are very into each other and that makes me very happy; he’s adventurous and brave but not careless or reckless, and I appreciate that very much. He is now nine weeks old with a clean bill of health from the vet, and appointments scheduled. He’s doing so very well.

Sound to sleep at night

I’ve seen a few posts about people who need background noise to sleep but whose partners need total silence and darkness, and the toll it’s taking.

I wanted to say that I saw an ad for a speaker that goes under your pillow and is activated by pressure and only heard by you when you put your head down onto the pillow. No earbud pain, no suffering in silence.

Anyone tried them?

The CDS found me out of state 🧡

We have battled upper respiratory infection, medical care, being abandoned by mom-cat after she accepted the others back, moving inside, learning the bottle, interstate transport, meeting so many dogs along the way, constipation, diarrhea, URI recovery, exploration, curiosity, playtime, and growing Basecamp. He’s a tiny little love and exactly the last thing I wanted to go through right now, but he’s a tiny piece of perfection who is bringing out the best in his canine sibling protectors.

His name is Bruiser. He’s gone from 9.6 oz to 15.8 oz. I’ve known him for two weeks as of today, and I am utterly in love with him.
