[37/M] Midwest US – An invitation to practice being human together

Hiya! I'm Dave a 37M from the US Midwest. I'm really just looking for something simple; a penpal. My goal is to find a few Penpals to whom I feel comfortable opening up and speaking from the heart. I tend to see the world through the lens of relationships and healthy psychology. I'd invite you to come as yourself, without an agenda and practice just being human with me. All I ask is that you show up as you by being true to yourself. That's a skill we all have to work on and one well worth practicing.

Hope to hear from you!

Dave

A Little Off, A Lot of Real 37/M from Wisconsin

Hi there.

I’m the guy in the Luna Lovegood sweater in my profile. Which probably tells you at least a few things already.

Life is actually pretty good overall. I have a stable job, a small group of friends, hobbies, goals, routines, all the normal “adult life is functioning” things. And I’m genuinely grateful for that. But I’ve always felt a little socially offbeat, just slightly out of sync sometimes. I don’t always catch social signals right away. I overthink conversations afterward.

If I had to describe myself, I’m probably somewhere between Leonard and Sheldon from Big Bang. A little awkward, a little overly analytical, occasionally unintentionally weird, but ultimately well-meaning. The kind of person who deeply wants connection, even if I’m not always naturally smooth at creating it.

But I’m trying.

I’ve been pushing myself more socially lately, learning how to actually connect instead of just exchange information, learning how to relax around people and let myself be known a little more. It’s slow, but real progress.

I think what I’m really looking for is simple: good conversations, sincerity, shared interests, thoughtful people, maybe a little humor, maybe a little emotional honesty. Someone who doesn’t mind a bit of awkwardness as long as it’s genuine.

I’m the type of person who has a bad habit of dipping into the depths of a conversation a bit too soon to explain all the little details of a topic

But I’m also loyal, curious about people, hardworking, and genuinely trying to become better at connection instead of hiding from it.

Honestly, I could probably use a little extra kindness today. So if you just feel like sending some encouragement or a little human warmth my way, that’s appreciated too.

Anyway, if any of this resonates with you, feel free to message me.

And if nothing else, Luna Lovegood taught us that the odd ones are usually worth talking to. :)

Sending love your way
