AITA for not buying my son the laptop he wants bc I don’t trust newer brands?

My teenage son’s been asking for a new laptop lately. At first it was pretty chill, just saying his current one is getting slow and most of his friends already upgraded theirs. Then he started pushing for this newer brand like NIMO, since one of his friends has it and says it runs rly well. Thing is… I didn’t straight up say no at first, but I told him I’d rather stick with more established brands like Dell or Lenovo. My logic is pretty simple: I just trust older, well-known brands more when it comes to long-term reliability.
That’s kinda where the tension started. He thinks I’m just being old-school and not listening to him, and that I’m ignoring what’s actually good in the current market. I feel like he’s mostly just influenced by what his friends have, and I’m tryna make a more practical call. We’ve had a couple arguments about it now. It’s not even just about the laptop anymore, it’s kinda turned into a bigger issue about whether I trust his judgement or he thinks I’m being unfair/outdated. I’ll admit I don’t really follow newer laptop brands closely, so part of my hesitation is probably just me not knowing enough rather than actual facts.
So… AITA for refusing to buy the laptop he wants and sticking with brands I feel are more reliable?
