heatwave is killing me want some cold tea
Never done this but I feel like speeding it up rather than 100% cold brewing for half the day, but I don't know how to go about it, I'll use 1.5l pot I got I can put in the frige. How much tea?
I think like 15g green tea 60c water, let it cool for an hour than into fridge it goes? any suggestions?
English Breakfast ain't magic.
I took equal portions of nice black teas I have, 3-4g grams of each to 400ml water.
Keemun Maofeng,
Ceylon high mountain Nuwara,
Kenyan black from Kimunye nice large FOP like that nuwara.
Best English breakfast blend I had in my life.
I've not had a blend from store that comes close, like they're not even trying... because I didn't just used good quality tea.
Yet I also think these teas are best enjoyed on their own especially keemun.

Baihao Yinzhen aka Silver Needle not what I expected
I've drunk this tea years ago and I didn't like it back then I think I was offered bad brewing suggestions in the past.
I enjoy this tea quite a lot, I was expecting very light brew out of that for some reason, meanwhile it is pleasantly sweet and medium bodied, I can't pin down these flavours because my thoughts are dominated by idea of more gentle version of golden bud yunnan.
Similar mellow fruity character but more refreshing with zero astringency.
It is more intense in flavor than some green teas I've had and that is a surprise, good one at that.
Keemun Mao Feng - trying nicer keemun today and oh boy it is nice!
Month or two ago when I first tried keemun I was surprised by how unsurprising it tastes, so familiar from a lot of teabags like lipton etc.
Mao Feng I tried today definitely elevates that tea, it's decisive flavor is presented without any flaw of astringency or bitterness, just rich fruit and toast notes, tasty aromatic tea.
Long Jing Supergrade 2025 first experiences with dragon well
Comparing today dry leaf of regular and 'supergrade' dragonwell, smelling them I could hardly tell them apart.
Color of the soup light, hay or lemongrass somewhere between green and yellow.
They are clearly different, first obvious sign was smell when pouring this one was a little musky wet hay smelling reminded me of sencha but that went away quick, then a little hint of the nuttiness.
Leaves smaller more intact and with noticeably greener appearance.
Flavor of the soup off the get go, noticeably more intense sweeter, grassy and roasted pine nut note very prominent and also a good bit more astringent pith of citrus, raw wallnut. Yep where generic dragonwell was very mellow and unassuming with distant hint of nuttiness this one means business flavors more intense and complex.
Long Jing aka Dragonwell trying for the first time
This is 'basic version' without and extra embellishments on the label.
Brewed hay color, when doing first pour I could smell roasted wallnut, but not much but a smallest hint of that left in the cup. It is very mellow and pleasant to drink I can't say I've had green tea that tasted close to this at all.
It could easily be a daily drink green tea it doesn't hit with intensity of any steamed greens I've tried, very different creatures both of those. I have supergrade 2025 longjing waiting for a try as well I wonder how they will compare.
Finally a kettle with temp controls!
I'm happy it didn't pop my breakers, you don't know till you try and it's the first 3kW appliance in my kitchen. 2:20s to boil exactly 1l of water, almost full minute better than the old one, I thought If I want to fork out for those temp controls might as well find something with highest power rating so it is also quicker.
Cheap as dirt Da Hong Pao
Dry leaves dark like typical brewed looks like this, little over 4$ a 100g...
It is actually tasty, little bit sweet, hint of carmel with that gentle wood aroma.
This seller also sent me a 'goden snail' that was 100% black leaves and not a single tip... below average yunnan black tea rolled into snalis. White Monkey that tastes like higher end teabag, I knew they were fishy seeing the prices but that dahong pao is enjoyable and they're both worth low cost as casual daily drink. Sometimes it is good to try something lower grade, and actually none of it is bad.
