I wanted to share my 8-year-old's interpretation of "Night Terror." He's a huge Portnoy fan. Hope you enjoy!

  • He's been playing drums since he was very little, but he's only had proper lessons for the past two years.
  • He's learning sight-reading and practices classic songs with his teacher, but in his free time he loves playing along to his favorite bands by ear, especially songs with double bass drumming and odd time signatures.

My 8-year-old saw Gojira live for the first time last week, and then this happened... Hope you enjoy his drum cover of Mea Culpa!

Our 8-year-old is obsessed with Metallica and drumming, and he’ll be seeing them live this Wednesday as a surprise 🙂 Hope you enjoy some of his self-taught attempts in the video: Blackened, One, Master of Puppets, Orion, Sad But True, and Nothing Else Matters.

I need a push-button on/off switch for a battery-powered project with a touchscreen and an auto power-off function. With my limited circuit design experience, I came up with this. I’d appreciate your feedback.

  • Holding the button long enough powers up the MCU, which then keeps the control node active (GPIO_HOLD).
  • A second button press is detected (GPIO_SENSE) by the MCU to shut the device down when the button is released.
  • Or, the device powers off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity (no touch input).
  • All timing parameters would be adjustable in firmware.
  • Ideally, the solution should cost less than $1.
  • Edit: Vbat can be as high as 5V, while the MCU runs at 3.3V.
