GSX-R600 K6 rectifier issue
I just bought a 2006 GSXR600 and after only a few hundred km I had it die mid ride with the dash speedometer dropping to zero and losing power before eventually cutting off and not starting back up. I replaced the battery on the spot with a new one which died 30 minutes later, same issue while riding.
I read online that this model is known for a failing rectifier which causes this issue, previous owner said he replaced the rectifier but did not mention a new stator, how likely is it that the stator was bad which causes the premature failure of the rectifier and quickly draining any battery I put in? Is there anything else that could cause this issue that I could be missing?
I’ve already ordered a new rectifier with MOSFET technology and plan on relocating to the side of the bike for better air flow and lower temperatures.
Does anybody have any recommendations for a stator or am I best off ordering OEM (€400) vs aftermarket (€200).
This seller is claiming to be selling OEM directly from Japan for much cheaper than other sites which are mostly coming from United States.
