Built an App to find riding friends!

Moved to a new area last year and realised how hard it is to find people to ride with when you don't know anyone local. Existing Facebook groups felt…odd and I never found anyone with a similar pace or experience level.

Ended up building an app to scratch my own itch, it matches you with riders based on pace, experience, budget, that kind of thing, so you're not turning up to a group ride and immediately holding everyone up (or getting left behind).

There's also a "Ready to Ride" feature that lets you flag you're heading out, anyone else local with it on gets notified so you can link up spontaneously.

It's free, iOS and Android. Happy to drop the link in the comments if anyone's interested, mainly just want to know if this is actually a problem other people have or if I'm in the minority.

IBT in west of Ireland

hi all, I've been looking at doing my IBT for the past few weeks but cannot for the life of me get a hold of an instructor in Galway - no one has returned calls/emails and I'm fed up of trying them. Any suggestions for an instructor somewhere around the west of Ireland who can accommodate someone with no gear or previous experience? I'm willing to drive a decent distance if I can get going ASAP. Thanks!

Bikes should be fueled with the pump on the left. Change my mind

When you put it on the kickstand the fuel flap faces to the left allowing for easy nozzle insertion and a better view on how it sits and if the tank is full.

If the pump is on the right fueling becomes awkward, the fuel hose bends too much, you need to securely hold it in place and you look like those car drivers that fuel on the wrong side.

Seems like none of my friends care :(

Stolen: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx from apartment basement parking (South Dublin)

Absolutely gutted to be posting this, but my bike was stolen from the basement parking of my apartment complex.

Bike: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx : REG : 162 WX 2269

Color/Specs: Black/Grey adventure setup. It has a distinct black top box, engine crash bars, and a headlight guard mesh.

Security when taken: It was fully handle-locked and secured with a heavy-duty chain lock. They cut/bypassed both to get it out. Again the basement parking has automated locks as well and doesn't open when you're taking out the motorbike, probably they got the van inside the basement parking.

I have already filed a report with the Gardaí. If you are in the Dublin area, please keep an eye out for it on the roads or stripped down on online marketplaces.

I've attached a photo of the bike for reference

If you see it, have any CCTV footage from the surrounding area, or spot anything suspicious, please send me a DM or contact the Gardaí immediately. Any help or shares would be massively appreciated. Thank you.

Edit: my insurance had expired and I had taken a quote but didn't take the insurance and was waiting for payday, always have running insurance for your vehicles in Dublin. It's getting crazier by the day. Have had two attempts previously already where they were unsuccessful to take the bike away, but this time it looks like they came prepared.

Mechanics for Ducati in Dublin

Any mechanics that would do a valve clearance and timing belt on a Ducati 749. I’ve rang a few spots and most raid moto technic but from what I’m seen online it looks like Robbie shut shop?

So any recommendations would be appreciated the closer to Tallaght/rathfarnham the better

Circle clip found

I found this circle looking clip when doing a valve adjustment on the exhaust side of my 2023 grom, it was in the valve cover when i took it off and still have no idea where its from, im doing a timing chain job soon and wondering if i need more to fix. My bike is sitting at around 8,000-8,500 km mileage.

Any help or theories appreciated!!

Over Speeding

I may have been over speeding by a “bit”. And saw the speeding van. Applied brakes immediately (i know it doesn’t work that way).
But how much trouble am I looking at?

Also, I moved address but not on my Logbook yet. Was too lazy to do so. How can I check if I have any fines?

How to deal with rust from salt? Reposted from original post, added bike details and some pictures

My bike is a Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT and is an import from the UK. Likely from Northern Ireland. When I got it last October and drove from Tullamore to Dublin via country roads and it was raining at patches of the road, which annoyed me a bit because the bike had just been detailed.

Then I went through a few patches of wet manure and those stuck to the bike. I did wash most of it, specially from the metal parts, but have not valeted it yet. I will have it serviced in September and will book a valeting with the bike service. It's going to be expensive, I know.

Today, someone told me that the rust pattern is very likely to be from salt. This person said they use a lot of salt on roads in Northern Ireland. Is this true?

How can I mitigate the rust?
