Fibre to property install - is this how it will be once finished?

Fibre to property install - is this how it will be once finished?

In the process of upgrading to full fibre and they’ve had to dig part of my driveway up to facilitate the cable. The 3rd party contractors have been round today and just left. They’ve declared it’s now ready for cabling.

When the cabling is done will this wonky, dirty pipe be replaced with some kind of tidy trunking to be less of an eyesore right in front of my front door?

The cable will go up from this pipe, round the brick corner and into the house above the tiled step. The existing cable enters the house in the same location and runs under the step. There was rectangular trunking covering the cable from the step to the entry box before.

Red mark - anything to be concerned about?

Noticed this red mark - anything to be concerned about or has he just caught himself on something? The scale closest too it looks sort of wrinkled but it doesn’t show on the photo.

Time for a bigger hide?

I spent the afternoon redecorating my snake’s tank. Added more sticks to support cover items, fitted plastic conduit for the cables instead of the adhesive cable tie bases I had before etc. When I put him back in the tank he seemed a bit tight in his hide (pic 2).

I know they like to feel snug but is this getting a bit too small now? His other hide is much more spacious and he happily uses both.

First shed, didn’t realise it was coming. How to better identify it next time?

First off, it seems to have been a successful shed. Eye caps are there, the skin appears to be complete all the way to the tail. We had no idea it was coming though - we just noticed he was moving around in his hide this afternoon then the shed skin was pushed out through the door.

I had him out of the tank on Thursday and he seemed normal enough to me. I noticed that some of the scales seemed to be sticking up ever so slightly (pic 3) but other than that there wasn’t anything to suggest a shed was coming. His eyes weren’t dull, his skin didn’t seem to be “blue” etc.

Are the sticking up scales a sign of an impending shed or just something normal I haven’t noticed before? Being fine in Thursday then shedding on Sunday seems a bit quick from what I’ve read.

Worcester Greenstar 8000 - no hot water this morning.

I had a rough surprise this morning getting into the shower - no hot water.

I checked the pressure on the boiler screen and it was at 1.0 bar but the low pressure warning wasn’t on. I pulled the blue handle on the underside and I can hear water flowing inside the system but the pressure didn’t increase. I held it for a while but there was no change. I tried a few times but didn’t want to sit there endlessly filling it in case the pressure sensor wasn’t reading correctly and I ended up significantly over-pressurising it.

I changed the temperature on the thermostat to have the heating kick in, which it did fine. The pressure then started to increase on the display and when I checked the kitchen tap I had hot water again.

Any one know what might be up or is it time to call a professional?

Can humidity be too high?

We’ve had our snake for about 6 weeks now and just done the first full tank clean with new substrate. This time we used the bricks of dried out material that need to be soaked in water instead of the ready to use stuff. We added some sphagnum moss too as there wasn’t any before.

Humidity is a lot higher than before. I’m sure it will drop over time but is there a point where humidity is too high in the short term? It’s currently 94% on the cool side and 73% on the warm side. The heater has been on for about an hour now after being off overnight and humidity has dropped on the warm side. It was about 80%.
