Possible locations for Dublin EO

Hi folks,

So I'm just a few places from getting the call for my vetting to start for EO in Dublin. Very excited.

At present, I'm living in Santry for the next six months then hopefully looking for a new place.

I'm wondering if anyone may have any insight into what departments I could land in? I'm slightly, worried I could end up in an Intreo office in Tallaght or some obscure department in Lucan and have to commute every day from one end of Dublin to another. Or is it more likely I end up somewhere in city Centre?

Féile statement on court proceedings

Statement from Féile an Phobail

Féile an Phobail are delighted with today’s outcome at the High Court.

Today’s outcome is a vindication of Féile’s position in standing up for those who are marginalised.

Féile’s decision to withdraw this event from our programme stands.

The agenda of many of those who involved themselves in this issue was clear for all to see.

Many of the very same people line up every year to attack Féile at every turn, to attempt to damage Féile, and to attack the West Belfast community.

They will never succeed.

Féile an Phobail will continue to provide a voice for the marginalised, and we are looking forward to welcoming the world to West Belfast to join with us to celebrate Ireland’s biggest community festival.

Féile Abú!

Féile vs sex Matters summary

Hi folks, seeing as it has kind of been diluted into statement and counter statement, I said I would summarize the whole mess as someone who followed it live.

Féile An Phobail is a West Belfast community festival closely linked to the Sinn Féin party. Sinn Féin has a funny relationship with trans people having went from the best in Ireland to a chaotic mess that meekly allowed the blockers ban. It has new policy coming on us in the next few months, that I'm frankly not hopeful for. The Chair of Féile is the chair of Belfast Sinn Féin, and a key organizing member, Sam Baker is SF's general secretary. A large number of volunteers on the ground are also SF members. Féile has longstanding links with our community including running a discussion on the Supreme Court ruling last year.

Women Rights Network Northern Ireland is the local spinoff of the Halifax crowd. Very very interestingingly, they appear to have imploded just a few weeks ago because the coordinator was verbally abusive to members and blocked them. Free speech warriors eh?

https://www.reddit.com/r/northernireland/comments/1v5789w/former\_wrn\_ni\_allege\_bullying\_and\_censorship/

Anyway, so WRN and Sex Matters applied for an event using what to us is obvious dogwhistles, but to cishet people probably was glanced over. Then the event programme was released and WRN began posting their list of Terf speakers online and the details of the talk with much more flagrant language.

Causeway Pride and others began to call on Féile to withdraw the event or they would picket it. Féile complied the next day, explaining they didn't know the event was anti-trans. Then the firestorm of hate began.

WRN posted on social media demanding it be reinstated, with veiled legal threats. And then Joanne offered to pay up. Féile didn't reply, then the next day they came with more threats and media coverage expanded to radio and front page papers. Bigoted Unionist politicians began to weigh in and threaten to take Féile's funding. These are people who used to making mooing noises at actual feminists btw.

Yesterday WRN gave them one last chance to bend the knee by 4pm. Instead Féile offered to meet them in Belfast. They arrived at the meeting where WRN announced they had already lodged papers against them and it seems to have basically ended with Feile refusing to negotiate under the axe.

It appears Féile, unlike the party it is wedded too, is willing to fight for us against Joanne even if it was a bumpy road to get to this point. There is some precedent in law for both sides - we will probably be relying primarily on Ashers bakery, where a bakery in Belfast was allowed to refuse to make a cake supporting gay marriage. The court held that people in the UK could not legally be forced to promote a message they fundamentally disagreed with - however this will be weighed against all the terf winnings on freedom of expression etc.

Former WRN NI allege bullying and censorship

Apparently 16 people were thrown out of WRN NI just a few weeks ago and the coordinator was verbally abusive to some of them. They were then banned from commenting on WRN's social media.

EO order of merit pre & post interview

So recently did my EO interview few days ago. Nervous wreck for a week prior. Think I did okay, but who knows. I was in the 110's in Dublin after initial assessment, curious as to how widely people have found it to range post interview? If I'm in a batch of 50, am I being judged among that batch or is there a chance I drop to 2000 or something?

Lease in Walled Garden Apts for transfer

Hi folks,

Myself and my roommates are moving on from our current place in Walled Garden Apartments Dundrum.

We are looking for someone to take over the lease, 2870 per month. Your combined income must meet the threshold of 7175 per month to be eligible - and yes we do know how steep that is!

We are planning on moving out the end of June unless someone is interested and wants to make the arrangements fast.

Sample photos:

If people are interested, please drop me a DM.

It actually is a lovely apartment and it's not my choice to move on at all.
