The one on the right, someone was advertising a yard sale on fb marketplace, went there and saw this one (8gb ram, 256gb). It was dissasembled. Paid $20 (also paid $10 for a pair of AirPods Pro, and $10 for 1.5 TB worth of 3.5 HDDs) for it, took it home, bought a $10 screw kit off ebay, put it together and found out that although it worked and booted on a second display, the screen didn’t work.

It also had an iCloud lock, but I got in contact with the previous owner to see if she wanted the whole thing back, she did not and agreed to remove it from her icloud. Apparently she dropped it off at some repair shop once upon a time, forgot about it, and moved on.

So I went back on marketplace and bought the one on the right for $70 shipped, I thought this one would also be an iCloud lock so i was really buying it for the screen. Opened it up, and it was already turned on to recovery! All i did was reinstall macOS and lo and behold, there was no iCloud lock. On top of that, it’s an 8GB, 500gb model, so just decided to use that as my personal and forget about the 256gb (i guess it’s just going to sit until i find a screen for it, then it’ll probably be a gift for someone else)

So $90 for two working m1 mbp’s, what a steal! (or $100 if you count the screws)

Side note: if we’re discussing marketplace deals, everything about that gaming pc was also a marketplace deal. The curved 4k 165hz monitor was $50, the corsair keyboard, headset, and stand were $40 altogether, and the PC (32gb ddr4, nvidia 3070, 1TB SSD) was 100% free (ask me for the story on that one lol)
