Need advice

Hello, G12 student ako and lately, I have had some mental health setbacks that is making me considering taking a gap year after graduation.

I applied for the UPCAT earlier this year but I honestly don't want to waste it since I know damn well I'm going to fail since I barely studied knowing that you can only take the exam once in your lifetime.

Should I withdraw my application and take it next year instead? Ano advice niyo?

Crushing on a friend (whose birthday is tomorrow)

16M

So I have this friend. I never really had a serious crush on her before but we're close. Well, most of the time. Both of us are really moody so there were times we were on-and-off friends.

Anyway, we're now in the 12th grade. Just a few days ago, she said something that she believed I was the best person to talk to about. Let's not get into specifics because I did promise her I would not tell a soul.

A day or two after that, she had an IG Note about some politics thing that I replied to and she somehow managed to agree with every opinion I made. She said I was able to word out every thought she had that she wasn't able to word correctly.

We talked for hours (the conversation started at 7:45 PM) until it was around 12 AM and I told her it was getting late. Like the cornball I am, I made a bet with her that whoever falls asleep first is a rotten egg. She agreed to the bet and we kept chatting until 1 AM. I lost the bet because I have a curfew lmao.

Before I said goodnight, I told her we should talk more often and even suggested we hang out in real life once just the two of us. She agreed as long as we didn't have much schoolwork. This genuinely surprised me, even made me giggle a bit, because I never hung out with her alone.

Yesterday, I walked her to the place where she commutes from school. We had a nice chat and I even saw myself looking at her with admiration in my eyes as she spoke.

She's a really pleasant girl. I didn't think of her as a potential love interest before but sometime in our high school friendship before 12th grade, she claimed that I gave her advice that opened her mind to new perspectives.

She used to be the type of person who did not care at the slightest about problems that didn't involve her, but she said that with my advice, I changed her to a better person as she says she sympathizes with others' problems.

I don't know why but that warmed my heart. I believe it means she trusts me enough to follow my advice and change to be a better person. She says she admires me as a person and looks up to me, especially when I write. I genuinely admire her for that.

Tomorrow is her birthday. I asked my friend what to get her. I was thinking flowers or chocolate but we both thought that was too flashy and overrated. He recommended me like a cassette tape booklet thing he found on Pinterest, as well as an index card with a doodle of a cat with a lollipop.

Anyway, I did what he told me. I have the cassette tape booklet here with seven songs she had on her public Spotify playlists and I made sure to sneak in one song that reminded me of her. I also did the index card thing, writing a message that simply read "happy bday sparkles." I settled on calling her "sparkles" because she told me I should substitute swear words with "sparkles" as I told her I really wanted to stop swearing.

I'm not investing my all to her because it is likely she may not be interested in me as a romantic partner. I just choose to enjoy our friendship as of the moment and just see where it goes.

Unlike other crushes I had, I don't feel like sitting this one out and just waiting for it to fade away. I feel like doing something and actually hoping she'll notice.

I do hope though that she appreciates me as a person. I've been trying my best to improve myself not only for her but also for me in general.

Wish me luck, guys.
